I would love holiday-themed housing items. I think that would be really cool. ^__^

Of course!

I hope your girlfriend gets her items back - especially in time for Christmas. It's really a shame that someone would do that to another person. I have a soft spot in my heart for hack victims; I don't know what I'd do if I lost my items.

Other than that, Many, MANY people use anon gifting just for the purpose of being kind and generous, why take that away?

If I'm not mistaken, he's not suggesting that we take away anonymous gifting; I think he's just suggesting that we be able to see to whom we've sent gifts the same way that we can see our past trades or sales in the Marketplace. It wouldn't take away any of the anonymity of receiving, but it would greatly inconvenience any hackers who use that method to cover their tracks from the person they've hacked (even though, as aforementioned, moderators do have access to that information). But we should, too.

I like the AtA; it's a pretty good way to make that connection between the staff and us users, but I definitely agree with Basara and all who have posed in agreement with him. It really frustrates me when I'll occasionally post in there about something important, like an upcoming event, or an update, or a question about the way the staff actually runs this site, but I'll get overlooked by two individuals quoting each other and creating these huge, obnoxious quote trees or a swarm of questions like "AT WHAT AGE DID YOU LOSE YOUR VIRGINITY?" No. No. That is none of my business and I want to know about my Christmas event. *tear*

I use my journal to keep track of my holiday graphics and art, and occasionally write a journal entry about things that happen to me in my daily life. I read staff journals to be informed, of course, and I update my own mainly for keeping track of my life here on Gaia. I remember the featured journals; I wish we could do that again! It would bring a beautiful focus on community values, which the team is trying to promote now more than ever.

I believe Lanzer stated that the Christmas event was basically going to be an extension of the Halloween plot, which kind of saddens me because I personally like the plots from past Christmases a bit better ...

Oh goodness, I remember my first avatar. It was terrible, but I thought it was adorable back in 2005. I was so proud to save up the ~1,000g it cost to buy those clothes.

Mind you, my parents were very involved with my life, but I still did a lot of bad stuff when I was 12. It seemed rebellious and fun back then. My parents gave me all the warnings and then let me do my own choices. I realized very quickly that cybering and whatnot was only fun if it pissed off your parents, and it didn't.

Completely protecting your kids with censoring and constantly guarding over them doesn't really help in the end. Sometimes you need to let them discover the world and then let them decide. Most of the times they'll do what's right.

Different people, different experiences. I never, ever felt the temptation to have cyber-sex or purposely anger my parents. But then again, that's me, that's my life, and I am the product of my environment and of my upbringing.

No one is suggesting complete censorship; children do need to learn about the realities of life because they, when they become adults, will have to face those problems and potentially work to fix them. However, the strong and functional foundation that is my home and the healthy presence of my parents in my life and daily activities have taught me well and have given me what I need to face those harsh realities. That is what I'm referring to: the healthy presence of parents in the upbringing in the lives of the children they created. If more parents were a bit more engaged in the raising of their children instead of depending on TV or the internet to do it for them, maybe there would be less articles like this one.
