"Yeah, I s'pose they are."

It seemed that luck was not on my side this time. I charged in half-heartedly and swung at Alnette. She jumped backward to avoid it and slashed at me. I brought my gauntlet up to block but her blade cut through it and into my arm. Blood spattered the floor and I stood with one useful arm. I tried another attack, this time a spinning blow to the head, but Alnette ducked under it and stabbed me in the stomach. When she drew out her blade I hit the floor and passed out almost at once. I guess I should stop picking fights with her...

"Yes."

I watched Alnette return to the Battledome and felt something grip my heart. I didn't want to fight her, not just yet. So instead I bowed out before she had a chance to spot me. The victory was hers.

"C'mon then..."

"..."

While the wings Scribbler drew for Zach were nice and effective for what they were, they weren't a replacement for the phoenix's own wings. She was still walking around the Battledome in a daze until her next opponent approached. This time it was the hologram. Zach stared at her for a moment before letting loose a long-distance punch. The shockwave from the attack disrupted the image briefly but did no real damage. Hologram aimed her gun and fired once. Twice. Three times. All three bullets hit the target but not where Hologram had intended. Two bullets were lodged in Zach's left arm and the third in the same shoulder. Zach staggered slightly then took off into the sky above Hologram. As the image aimed her gun again Zach dive bombed and punched the ground in front of Hologram, sending chunks of rock flying everywhere. One of them hit the CPU and Hologram went down.

"..."

Zach said nothing as she stepped into the Battledome again. She stepped towards Jester, who spotted her and immediately began preparing a spell. When Jester looked up Zach was in his zone. Jester didn't have a chance to react as Zach blasted him in the chest with a punch strong enough to drop a building. As Jester crashed through the wall Zach simply stared at the hole her attack had made. Staring silently and looking like she was dazed.

"Then die."

I was going to take out my anger on the German guy from before but Alnette stepped in my way. She said something about an apology but I didn't hear it. I was so furious that I couldn't hear anyone outside. I saw Alnette bow her head in surrender and I felt the bloodlust rise. She was giving herself to my claws and that thrilled me. I raised my hand above her head and struck.

Hold it.

I did not feel the claw sink into Alnette's neck nor did the warm blood flow over my hand. Ivan had retracted his claw so my blow was nothing more than putting my hand on Alnette's shoulder. With Ivan's influence receding I felt my anger ebb away as well. I didn't want to kill her... I wanted to cry.

"What happened," I asked Alnette. "You just cut them... why?"

TNP: "..."

"You... you cut my wings... you took them from me!"

Rage was building inside me. The mere sight of Alnette infuriated me more than it should have. Losing my wings should not have made me as angry as it did, but it did anyway. I roared and commanded Ivan to give me his claws so that I could tear Alnette to pieces. He was more than happy to oblige. I felt a power grow in my arm that seemed to fuel my rage further. I charged at Alnette and took her back, stabbing my claw into her spine. We'll see how she liked it.

TNP: -General sounds of rage-

"So... much pain... and blood..."

My wings... my wings were gone... there was so much pain shooting up and down my spine that I couldn't concentrate. Ivan tried helping and managed to stem the flow of blood that was pouring out of my back. I'd have to thank him later. I can't remember too much of what happened next because the pain was so bad and I had lost a lot of blood. There was that German guy approaching me as I blacked out. I think Ivan took over and protected us. I woke up later with blood on my hands... it wasn't mine...

TNP: "Just... leave me alone..."

"What? Me? An angel? No, that's just ridiculous. I'm not an angel... not yet, anyway."

Alnette had caught me in the middle of preening when she asked about my wings. I looked at her in confusion and noticed that her hair had gone black and, looking away quickly after, that her clothes were mostly gone. She didn't look like she was in any condition to fight, especially with what looked like amnesia. Of course, that didn't stop her from swinging at me with that scythe of hers.

"The Gods will me to fight," she said. "So I shall fight!"

She slashed at me and I only just managed to backflip out of the way. Unfortunately, due to my surprise she was faster than I was and slashed at me again, cutting into my wings. I howled in pain and hit the floor face-down. There was no blood but there was pain. Agonizing pain. I looked up at Alnette and saw her raise the scythe above my prone body. She brought it down and stuck the blade into my spine. I nearly died then and there.

"Three... two... one..."

I would have started my charge on the next count, zero, but Emma was not going to wait for me. She froze me in place so that I could not move while she debated what to turn me into.

"Yield? No chance." ((Ohshite, 87? Wow, these were all really close. XD))

Alnette was not happy. And when she wasn't happy she was not someone to be taken lightly. She had lost her home and revenge was very prominent in her mind. It was pretty clear that she would tear me apart right now if I looked like I would pose a threat so I held up my hands in surrender. I said I wouldn't yield but I think that it would be better to help Alnette while alive than to lie on the ground and bleed to death.

"I'd be willing to help you take back your home," I said. "That is, if you want my help in the first place."

TNP: "C'mon, c'mon, c'mon! I'm all fired up!"
