"It'll happen today. I've seen signs. National examiner reported a two-headed cat born in queens. Today for certain. You'll keep my paper for me tomorrow?"
"Uhh... sure. Sure I will. No sweat. Have a nice day." Walter is walking off.
Newspaper guy is turning around to pour himself something hot
Goes to take a drink
Walter sneaks back up behind him "You won't forget"
"FPFFF" newspaper man spits out drink

Ergh, I remember the freshmen talking about that my last year. Oh! One of my favorite things to do is to ask my mom's students at the beginning of the year to answer such and such a question, but I always make sure there is no answer directly in the book, only little tidbits that you can put together to form the answer. You know, problem solving/common since? None of them can do it. By the end of the year they can. I love that my parents teach like that.

Ms Wolf: <3 agreed (besides student's with severe learning disabilities it also included ESL - English as a second language - student's, where I live it's a huge problem because we have Hmong family's still coming over from WWII - the ones that grew up in the camps in Thailand.)

I found the hardback print of Watchmen... it has extra stuff... I got it for nine dollars...

Sarah wants to go with me to see the movie because I haven't, and she likes to see me geek out. Like the one time I called her and was ranting that my art teacher animated Maleficent, Maleficent the dragon, and the prince's horse in Sleeping Beauty.

Number One on my list: No Child Left Behind. When students fail the teachers and schools get punished - sometimes it is not their fault, other times it is, but for the most part the students just get lazy and parents do the 'you go to school and learn - why do I need to teach you anything' spiel. So either it's the students pass and understand concepts - school and students fine , the students pass and do not understand concepts - school is fine and student falls behind even more, the students don't pass, the school looses it's funding, gets put on the 'failing schools' list and everyone has the chance to transfer out.

Another little thing I'll add on here is that all they are being tested on is standards. Teachers have little if no time to make sure the students understand the concepts, they teach to the test because that's what the NCLB is based off of and the NCLB is what their job is based on. My brother who is in 8th grade didn't know how to write a research paper till this year. I was shocked. You remember book reports? The predecessors of essays? Well he hadn't done one of those since third grade...

He's in pentathlon, he won the schools spelling bee, he can do long division in his head, and I had to sit down and show him how to brainstorm and write an outline. Argh. (Eloquent ending there um-yep)


(You know... I could go on but... XC I rant enough. Ah, forgot to say: 'This is probably biased because I know and am related to so many teachers.' )

I'm about to head off to my last day of classes before spring break, when I get home tonight I will finish it : D

Ok, when I go into Boom's character and start in with the proper english I get some people that can't understand me. I love it when they tell me to 'talk right' and I say 'Please pardon me, but I lean mostly to the left.' and then I get a 'wut?'

I had to redo my order form for my shop because people couldn't figure out what particulars meant.
