You know, I've been on this site for like, 12 years, maybe 53. When it first started, I was all about the Gaia MMORPG. Now that's it's a reality; I'm finding it quite hard to get excited about it.
It is interesting. But it feels so slow, and I'm not sure if its scaling issues or issues with my computer. The lack of a traditional levelling system makes it seem like I'm not making much progress, as well, but maybe that's just me.

@henako: society is over rated.

fsck xD
You might have been drunk<effect of some other drug here> already, and bought it thinking it was something else <_<;
Last thing I remember is crying myself to sleep at 1630 or 1700, and then waking up and throwing up.

There was a bottle of gin, empty, on my counter, and all the doors were locked, as was when I went to bed.
Visited by the gin fairy. She creeps into your house, drinks gin and makes a mess of your stomach. Then she laughs an evil laugh and leaves a big dump in the cistern of your toilet.

Yeah, I'd check that, hey.

I have so many questions I should be asking right now
like
when the ******** did I fall asleep?
or
When did I buy a tankard of gin?
but more importantly
sicking up first thing in the morning sucks.
PROOF that gin is disgusting and bad for you and you should probably just drink rum or whiskey instead.

"Computer jokes" are stupid. :

This, this, and this are far more entertaining than any of these "jokes."
The Mel story is one of my favourite computing stories of all time.

That doesn't really work as an argument:
Person A: You can't wear blue.
Person B: Why not?
Person A: See, because that person isn't wearing blue..
When did I say you can't act a douche on screen because another company doesn't?

Ray was implying some absurd connotation that all advertising must require some form of blatant sniping at competition with/or slander/libel tossed in to attract the "hip" folk. I was showing that it is indeed possible to make both a well received commercial without absurd name-drops and fallacies dropped like the unwanted baby.

If you understood that, you seriously need to work on your reading comprehension. I said corporations do whatever they need to to increase profits, these ads benefit Apple since they have the "hip" image on their side, so they do them. If you, from that, extrapolate that "all advertising must require some form of blatant sniping at competition with/or slander/libel tossed in to attract the 'hip' folk", then I suggest you update your parsing engine, or check your RAM for errors.
From my point of view they don't increase their polularity.
Someone said something along the lines "Good advertising is advertising that people speak about". I'd like to bring a negative example: People still speak about Hitler.
Hitler didn't advertise to get his image. He committed genocide. Your analogy is broken.

@Oni:
I agree, in my opinion WMP should focus on a different format like MP3, AAC or Vorbis. WMA usually takes longer to encode if I recall correctly, and it may be arguably better than MP3 in terms of quality to size ratio, but I've never seen a test/study that has shown it to be better than AAC or Vorbis (unless you rip at a really low bitrate, which I heard AAC isn't very good for and in that case you would be better off with MP3 or Vorbis).
Although I doubt they are just going to switch there focus format like that.
Yeah. I doubt it. Especially considering it's their own proprietary format. It's like suggesting Quicktime should move away from MOV; this whole discussion is pissing in the wind. When MS moves away from WMA, they'll move straight into another MS format, not AAC or Vorbis.

Every so often I play with the idea of changing my avatar. But I've grown to like this avatar. A lot. It seems futile to change it when I'll just change it back

I also like the juxtaposition it creates with the personality in my writing voice. Hahahaha.
When I change my avatar, people yell at me.

Sometimes, in a manner of minutes.

I learn bits and pieces as I need it. This means sometimes I'll do something inefficiently for the longest time (till I figure out the best way), but on the same token, it gives me impetous to learn. I NEED to know this stuff.

I still think they should have picked Tara Emory for that role.

as for the Mayan calendar thingy, last I read up on it, it was never ending, it worked in circles (on abot 15.000 years?), and 2012~2015 is just the end of one such and the start of a new one, if I recall correctly it is what shadowrun uses as explanation for the new diversity of races/creatures?

~Googles to find out who that is.~

Damn my insatiable curiosity! When will I learn!?

maybe we should mention that her webpage is not safe for work.

Unless he's not one of the gay members, in which case I apologize. I just can't keep up anymore.
