Chibi Envy Chan I've skimmed over it and have a few pointers. First of all, I wouldn't suggest using your pen name for your OC or using your OC's name for your pen name. Why? Because people will automatically think that this is a self-insert, and many are turned off by that idea. Second, her surname sounds like it came from Yu Yu Hakusho. Unless she's from Xing, she would have a Western surname. I know it's a minor detail, but so many OCs have names like Sakura Himitsu in a Western based setting such as Fullmetal Alchemist, Harry Potter, or Lord of the Rings. Frankly, it becomes tiring. Third, I noticed your descriptions of the OCs. While I applaud you that they aren't huge paragraphs, reading them sends me twitching. Perhaps, it the way it was worded. Fourth, I noticed you have a lot of information and details in some paragraphs and for others, it's dialogue mainly. Try to balance it out. Fifth, why would Serina help hide Ed's identity even though she met him and they have a grudge against state alchemist? In the anime, none of the coal workers allowed him to stay there. In fact, what was Ed doing out there in the first place? He doesn't like deserts. Oh yeah, why would the military be involved with their city? Was it manipulation on the part of the homunculi? Sixth, this has hints of OCxEd romance. If she's going to be involved with him, then it would take awhile to reach a romantic level. Remember, Ed's not a romatic at heart. He has one goal and that's to reunite Al's soul with his body. If not, then I'm probably reading into things too much. Yes, I sound harsh, but it could be worse. You've been concritted by Chibi. *stamps* Oh thank you so much! This is my first time writing a serious fic so all critique is welcomed! I'll try to go and do some editing. ^.^ |

Chibi Envy Chan Korryuu, a character may have some Sue characteristics/qualities, but that doesn't make her an automatic Sue. A large part of it is in the way she is written in the story. If she somehow manages to acquire a position/lover/abilities without any of the work, then that would be a huge alert. However, if she struggles the entire time and makes some progress, then that's good. I can't say anything since I don't know the character or which rules you've broken. ><# I know the feeling. Those people often tend to make their favorite character into someone they want to hook up with their OC. Often, this results in canon characters being blatantly OOC. Oh okay. ^.^ I was a little worried there. Actually, I used to be a horrible Mary Sue script fic writer but most of it was jokes between my friends and I. well I think I broke a few of the Mary Sue rules up there except the fact that my Mary Sue is a good one :3 She does not have every man in the fic lusting after her and none of the characters fall in love with her even if she may be in love with them. Not to mention she is indeed, not perfect in anyway and she reflects me in many ways (I've been using her for years ^^ wink Is that considered okay? Q-Q |
