I proudly say I use character sheets, and always have them incredibly detailed. I don't do them to remember who a character is, though. I do them for the sake of their development. I'm obviously not going to put how their ears look in the story, but it paints a very nice mental picture for me and lets me really create their personality before I write it.

So I do find them incredibly useful. Neener neener.

If you mean a good sir who happens to have spider webs in the corners of his eyes and a certain liking to contortionism, then yes. biggrin

I'm trying to think of other "oddlings" but I'm at a standstill. ._.

Yeah, I thought about Cirque Du Freak a little, being a huge fan of it myself. I guess for sake of clarity, I meant more like the vampires/zombies deal is more...individual I guess? Like, there's one vampire (who I decided is an amnesiac) and a set of zombie twins (who have fully operating minds, just can take themselves apart and the like).

But yes, you're right about scattering the oddities about. There will definitely be some human ones with some mythological ones. I thought about having feral humans, or is that pushing it? O.o

I believe it'll be something bigger. I didn't get that far in my musing but it'll probably be all part of a bigger picture in the end. smile

Well, I've been put at a literary standstill and have come down with a bad case of writer's block. However, I've had a bit of a glory moment in the way that I have come up with some form of plot. So me, myself, and I thought that maybe the lovely Gaian writers might put me in the spirit of writing again (I already have this spirit of Christmas thing down).

As far as plot goes, this is what I have:

1. Set during the freak show peak era (we'll say 1880-1900) so it gives us a twenty year span if need be.
2. Keeping in truth with traveling circuses, this freak show is all on a train that travels at night and has an eerie green glow to it. Mind you, the train is UBER fast as well as naturally having some magical qualities to it.
3. The "freaks" in this case aren't exactly run-of-the-mill freaks. These freaks are vampires, ghosts, zombies, and general scary beings. That's not to say there isn't physical oddities. I just haven't come up with those yet.
4. The ringmaster is a freak himself, being a contortionist raised by a voodoo priestess (oh yeah, forgot to mention it all starts in New Orleans) so he's pretty awesome himself. I've had his wife be the narrator.
5. The narrator-wife-lady attempts to solve the mysteries of each freak. For example, she tries to figure out who killed the ghost, where the amnesiac vampire is from, etc.

Well, that's all I really have for now. I leave the rest for you guys to muse over. I have some sleeping to catch up on. Hope to see a response in the A.M. hours. biggrin

Okay, I'm keeping it simple here.

THEMES You have forty themes here to choose from, but you have to complete all forty. No worries, I'm getting in on it too. I will probably post about ten themes a day. Or if enough people want, I'll post all forty. They're very simple and (hopefully) general.

WHAT'S ACCEPTED? Seeing as how my beta and I will be judging (and possibly one other person), we're mainly accepting Kingdom Hearts fanfiction (we prefer it anyways) but you guys can do just about anything, as long as it's considered fanfiction. Be vulgar, be insane, be whatever. You guys have no limits here. The only specifications are that you keep it over 100-word length, and keep it a one-shot. That, and I prefer that it be one character-centered. This makes it much easier to read ('cause I'm lazy!)

FEE AND PRIZES The fee is free, and there are prizes involved. My beta and I will discuss the winners and will settle on a prize for each. So far:

1st - A very fancy evolving item of choice and one item of you choosing within 5000-25000 gold.
2nd - One LaVictoire item of choice and an item between 2000-10000 gold.
3rd - An item of your choosing between 1000-10000 gold.
Honorable Mention - One item between 500-5000 gold.

The prizes may change in time because I only have so much gold and money for Gaia cards. There might be door prizes but like I said, we're limited here.

ENTRIES I'm probably limiting this to about 50 or so, because I'm expecting to get that or less. And you should probably have a fanfiction.net account for easy viewing. Message me the link to your entries and I will notify you when they are read. Make sure you leave an update for every time they are updated, but please don't overrun everything. biggrin

ACCEPTED TIME We'll be judging this by late January. If needed, the time frame may be extended.
