deadsphinx xMitchan I HATE this manga! after reading a few chapters, I realized that the mangaka copied Eichiro Oda-sensei (creator of Onepiece).
-Natsu wears a red vest, which looks quite like Luffy's.
-He also uses fire-style "magic", and Ace uses fire (including making letters with it).
-Lucy looks *almost* exactly like Nami.
-And why is it that there's a swordsman(Erza) in the team when it's supposed to be mages? *cough*zoro*cough*
-Also, whenever a new character comes out, there's a little box with the name of the character and the guild they belong to, right? That's also like Onepiece. In Onepiece, when a new pirate shows up, it tells you the name of the character as well as the name of the pirate crew.
And please note that Onepiece series is a lot older than Fairy Tail.
If I am correct the creator of Fairy Tail did work under the Creator of One Piece at one point so it's not really suprising that there might be so many similarities. Plus there are some people (or maybe only me) who enjoys that familiar taste that is found in both mangas. At least they aren't both about pirates or have the same setting. 
I know Wikipedia isn't the most reliable source but, note the highlighted part it says he has never worked an assistant.
Also, I'd just like to mention that both Eiichiro Oda and Hiro Mashima grew up loving Akira Toriyama's works.
Even so, it is Highly unlikely they develop the same art style.

Yuki had just got on the subway and was on her way to work. I heard some new people were moving here, I hope they're interesting. She smirked, she was always so interested in new people. Getting to know them. Studying them. She started to stare out the window. All the buildings so modern and high tech. Her parents had shown her some drawings her ancestors had drawn of the old style building. She loved the way the lines just flowed and seemed to dance around the paper. This is why she decided to study art. She wanted to bring life into such old designs. After a while of just staring out the window, she noticed two girls standing outside Old lady Emily's house. She didn't really know the lady, but she lived pretty close to her, so she saw her around. So these are the new one huh? I should probably go say hi to them later. When she arrived at her stop she walked over to the music shop and got ready for work. So, another day of observation begins, I wonder what I'll learn today. After this she got to her station and waited for some new subjects.

Yuki started pouting, This is IMPOSSIBLE!! If only Kara-chan was here...but she was probably with that one dude, and people cant be in two places at once, unless you cut them up but that wouldn't work out well..and there would be blood, and blood is really hard to get out of clothes, I wonder how the anime guys do it? they must use like uber strong bleach or something.. She snapped out of her thoughts when she heard the cat girl again. "I can't find my room." she explained in a defeated tone.

Yuki raised an eyebrow. "Whats her problem?" She let out a sigh, it was time for her to find her dorm, and to be honest, she had absolutely no idea how to get to it. You'd thing, "oh, it's not that hard, just find the letter then the number right?" Well, no, it wasn't that simple, because when you can get lost on a straight path with arrows pointing your way, you can get lost anywhere.
