How do you get inspired to start on art? Go to post 23 Art Discussion Thu Apr 24, 2008 5:13 pm
i went through a LONG artist block over 1 year where I just didn't feel like drawing and when I did it looked terrible. The answer for me was to get back into the mood. I can't think well when my area is dirty so i cleaned. Then watching a new pv sometimes helps I get inspired by cool cloths ;p finding some new music that just hits your creative spot or watching a movie/anime/drama. But after doing all that i was still kinda blocked and surprisingly the thingy that really kicked me back into art was taking my art to be exhibited. It gave me a push, a goal and some feedback in real time that made me fully realise other people still liked my art and I wanted to do more so I didn't let them down.
Since then I've been keeping the inspiration with good music and discovering new techniques / buying new mediums to try.
Artist + Modesty = Disaster?!?! Go to post 85 Art Discussion Thu Apr 24, 2008 6:17 am
i do personally get irritated when some artists say how much their stuff sucks with every post made. I understand being modest but when you say it all the time, your just fishing for pity and it's annoying. some of the best advice i was given when i was younger is "if you keep repeating the same thing over and over, eventually someone is going to think it's true" keep saying my art is crap and we're gonna take your word for it.

for those scenarios its really strange thing to want people to pick from 3 because all artists cant be categorized like that. I cant even place myself in any of those.

But of the 3 of course the most successful artist would be the 2nd artist because she's the only one pursuing her art. Plus professionals in any artistic field demand a person to accept criticism with a smile and move on. If you can't and you want to showcase your art then you'll fail. Artists have to grow a thicker skin if they want to go public with their art and realize criticism is the best way to improve.
Should you look at art as a competition? Go to post 53 Art Discussion Thu Apr 24, 2008 6:07 am
i could only speak for myself, for me i don't like the idea of competing with other artists. For me, i never compete with other artists but i do get inspired by the energy and devotion i see in others who are doing better then me. Be inspired don't compete thats my view.
why do ppl like to draw manga? Go to post 143 Art Discussion Thu Apr 24, 2008 6:01 am
because if you draw realistically you have to make that ugly w for noses and chick lits for teeth i hate it. manga style is sooooo much prettier.
What's YOUR style? Go to post 83 Art Discussion Thu Apr 24, 2008 5:59 am
i draw manga style with gothic lolita/j-rock influence. For me i tend to draw what i conceive as beautiful i think many others are the same but who knows. redface
