Copics Go to post 22 Art Discussion Sun Apr 27, 2008 6:22 pm
i've used prisma color markers for years as my starter. I only have like 22 of them. they tend to dry out fast and leave streaky lines, blending them can be a chore and it's true how only one end seems to work at a time, i often had to stop turn the marker upside down and leave it there for the ink to slowly push down to the side i need. Using them pushed me away from marker and back to colored pencils btw i recommend prismacolor color pencils they're great!!
for starter makers prisma isn't bad you could even consider sharpie too. I have a black and red sharpie for emergency's
copics are good because they're easier to blend and refillable. The ink is a deeper and a more even color. I originally never understood what was so great about copics so when i was over seas i bought 1, only 1 and since then i'm hooked it's easy flow for me when coloring.
I've also recently been recommended to neo piko 2 markers. I haven't tried it yet but it seems to be like copic sketch but cheaper and not refillable. they're alcohol based markers just like copic and have brush ends but they're ranging in price from 2.50-3.00 a marker. I'm very tempted to buy a pack of 12. they're on ebay for 30.00us

if you buy a set of like 72 your per marker price is around 4.00 US. You can grab a set of 72 on ebay for 300.00US for canada you'd have to pay a bit in shipping too though

Should Drawing Child Porn be a Crime? Go to post 72 Art Discussion Fri Apr 25, 2008 10:34 pm
you can draw whatever you want in your own home. No one's gonna break down your door and arrest you for drawing something disturbing or perverted. so whats the problem?
I support any law that forces those type of people to realize children are not sexual beings.
Colour schemes? Go to post 9 Art Discussion Fri Apr 25, 2008 10:28 pm
i'm bad at deciding also but considering the mood does help alot. I recently discovered that it can be best to keep the colors simple also. choose 1-5 colors and keep it to those colors just mix them to create different effects on the page. art using rainbow of colors is great too but tends to be distracting.
Choosing Copic Sketch Marker Colors Go to post 3 Art Discussion Fri Apr 25, 2008 10:22 pm
I need to choose about 20 copic sketch marker colors to buy. Since its only 20 to start I need to find really good versatile colors. Any suggestions on the best colors to start out with? Colors you can't live without yourself?
