Making Dual Audio MKV Subbed to X-Box 360 Compatible Go to post 19 Computers & Technology Sun May 17, 2009 4:18 am

not sure what formats the X-box plays, but try alltoavi or maybe SUPER

That post has almost nothing to do with the topic. I don't care what programs I can use, I want to know what the best program to use is, and exactly what I need to convert it too.

I'm sure somebody here on the world's most awesome forum can give me some useful info about this...

The 360 cannot play dual-audio sources (Unless it's just a DVD, but this isn't). If you want to play those videos, you'll need to remove one audio source.

That's a bit obvious, but thanks anyways sweatdrop

I was hoping somebody could tell me the best method of converting the MKV videos I have to videos that are compatible with the X-box 360. I think there were some videos my brother told me were the right file format, but did not work on his 360, so he is having me look into it, while requesting some videos. The videos I have are interesting though... they have soft subs and duel audio, so I am completely not confident that converting them will work well for me. I have the latest version of Super, but I am also willing to get any program required to get the best quality possible. Also, we will be playing these videos from our external hard drives, which you will probably have guessed by now (we have already installed the required update to the 360).

Here is the detailed info on one of the videos:

All of the other videos should be the same. If not, I should be able to figure it out once I get this first one.

The main reason for this post is so that I can avoid using trial and error sweatdrop
I'm sure there are some people around here that know the exact answer wink cuz Gaia is awesome like that...

[EDIT]
Program to convert to X-Box Compatible videos: Videora
Program to edit MKV files (so I can remove subs and audio tracks): mkvtoolnix

Thanks for the help, everybody ^_^ now if I can just figure out which of these to use in Videora: Screen Shot

My question is what is the exact problem you are experiencing? You keep mentioning "an issue" and using generic terms.

Umm... I don't actually see any problem at all. I just want to take the unknown PCI Device off my list of installed hardware, and I want to get my built-in sound card working. Although, the sound card might actually just need a driver update of its own in order to fix that problem, so it may not be the mother board in that case. Same with the unknown PCI Device. I want to know what that device is and I want to know if the built-in sound card is better then the Sound Blaster card I have working right now.

Okay, now what are the drivers you're wanting to update, exactly, and why?

I need to update my motherboard because there seems to be an issue with the sound card that is built in to it, and also the PCI Device that appears unknown. I read in a couple places that it might be related to the motherboard and the driver. I couldn't hurt to update it, and might fix the problem. (btw, I mentioned this all in the first post...)

MAKE SURE THERE THE TYPE FOR YOUR COMPUTER FIRST!

That's the problem... I don't know what my motherboard is called. I haven't seen anything about the Product Series anywhere.

It seems my Sound Blaster card is working 100% now, and has no issues anywhere. The only remaining issues are insignificant, but still something worth fixing. I still need to get my motherboard updated and I'd like to find out why the built in sound card on my motherboard does not work.

For the rest of the stuff, run Aida32 and it should recognize the things and provide links.

Will it matter that I have the hard drive from my other computer inside this computer? I think the other programs I used recognized the drivers installed on that hard drive, which caused the problems I had. (my guess)

I will try it and edit this post in about a minute or two...

[EDIT]
Ok this program is almost useless to me. It does not do anything with the drivers for my motherboard or my audio, as far as I can tell. This is pretty much just an extended device manager.

[EDIT2]
Yeah... I feel stupid about the sound card. I was able to update it myself, and I did it a while ago. I just didn't restart the computer yet. Restart fixed all sound issues.

Typically, once you have your drivers installed, only video cards really benefit from new drivers. The only time I ever check for new drivers for other hardware is when something isn't working properly.
This.

Ok, I will probably just need this one update then, since I just found out that my microphones no longer work. I am pretty sure it has something to do with the driver, because I never did anything to the mic or the jack or the sound settings.

So I just need my sound figured out, and I need to get a new driver for my motherboard. I'd prefer getting my motherboard updated first. After these, the problems those two programs caused should be taken care of. I should be able to take car of my graphics card myself from now on and keep it up to date myself.

Never, EVER install "Driver Update" programs like "Driver Genius Pro" or "Driver Magician". Not only are they typically scams, but they can also contain viruses. They do not do anything for you.

Why are you updating your drivers in the first place? Is something broken that you feel you need to update the drivers for?

I know very well how to check for viruses, and it is a very good idea to update your drivers if you wish to run your computer optimally. Not nearly as bad as running an old internet browser, but still not optimal.

But I will take your advice and remove these programs and will probably not get one again, since you are correct about the fact that they do not work correctly (at least these two don't).
