Okay...so this is my first time putting art for show on here, or rather, for critique. I currently specialize in various forms of art, two being watercolour and portaits. Well for watercolour I'm not so much freaking out over, since I'm still practicing it. Anyways, I just want some critiques (not too mean ones either) on this picture. [Leon Larregui] This is Leon Larregui from the spanish alternative band, Zoe. Of course, all of you probably don't know who the heck he is, so we'll just pretend you all do. : D I took step by step pictures, which I thought would be fun to show how I drew him. He's 18 by 24 inches, and I'm not entirely done with him, but this is all I have for the time being. He's drawn in mechanical pencil. Took me 2 hours to draw. Sorry the pictures are blurry at times--my scanner is WAY to small for pictures this size, so I used my camera. ._. [Blank paper] Where else does a picture start from? Blank paper of course! [Starting with his right eye] I always start with the right eye, since I form the picture around the eyes. Also I'm left handed so it helps starting on the right to avoid smudging. [Moving on down] I moved down onto his cheek, because if I moved onto his left eye, I wouldn't be able to do his cheek without smudging. [Outlining his left eye] Gotta outline the eye and make sure it's proportionate! [Colouring in his eye, and starting hairline] Once I've got the eye outlined, I shade in everything else around the pupil. [Closer details on eye] Just closer shot of how it's all done. smile [Moving down onto his nose] Then I move down, making sure his nose is also proportionate. [His mouth] Once the nose is drawn in, I move down to the mouth, and make the outlines. [Shading on mouth] I shade the mouth in next, and then start shading in his chin. [Rest of his face] I work on the left side of his face now, since the right side is done and no more smudging! [Moving onto hair] Once part of the face is done, I begin to shade in his hair on his left side, which was a mistake, since I forgot the right side. [Outlining hair on right side] Well now I move onto the right side and outline his hair and his highlights, since I was stupid and didn't do that earlier. ^_^; [Finished left side] Once I'm done fixing my mistakes, I move back onto the left side of his hair, and finish that. [Moving down to neck] I start to make his neck, making sure it's proportionate, and I draw in the chin hairs. [Shading neck] Shading in the neck. ^_^ Usually by this point I'm tired and angry with the picture, so it starts to move fast. [Finished with neck] Once his neck is done, I can flip the picture over, and work on his hair upside down so I don't smudge. [Colouring hair] I colour in the dark parts first. If I start on the light side, everything ends up being too dark, so I start dark first and then leave the highlights blank. [Hair done] I line in the highlights to make them blend into his darker hair, and make it look "natural" [Background + clothes!] I colour in the rest of the background, and begin to outline his clothes. [Finshed!] : D I hope you liked it. Please let me know of any critiques, but don't tell me it sucks! I know that already, so don't rub it in!!!! And don't tell me he looks like hitler at some points! I didn't mean for it to look that way. I shaded in the shadows underneath his nose too early, and I should have waited, but I didn't, so I'm sorry!!! But yeah, give me constructive criticism if possible. I'd really appreciate it! <3 |

EPICFAILUREv4 PMed. ninja Your prices are rather low for the quality of your art, Corazon Atomico. o-o; Yes, I have recieved various comments on that. However there are many positives which outweigh the negatives. I lose money in the sense of real lifesness, yes, and the monetary value is not equal to the gold I am getting on here. Nonetheless, I am recieving a positive outlook on this. For example, I am gaining experience. In my personal outlook, I am not experienced nor old enough to be a professional artist. I cannot sell this type of art, since I do not feel it is good enough. If I charge 20k for a picture, how many people will commission me? Not very much, none if at all. I will only have the experience of like 2 pictures, which is not much practice if you ask me. So if I charge what I find reasonable, I will get more commissions, which means more needed practice. I want to sharpen my skills before I move on to professional art, like selling prints on DA. Next, some people are generous, and will offer more. It makes them seem really generous and nice, and motivates me to do a good job for them. (Not that the ones who pay what i ask for aren't generous; they're generous for even considering to buy). Plus, I'm bored. It's summer. rofl So I hope that's 'nuff. ^_^ Oh and BrittanySian, you have to pm me with the order. Sorry, but I don't do post orders, only Takumi does that. |
