I was wondering if you guys would ever hold a contest for gaians to draw/create a mini-boss (or new animated) for zOMG *and then everyone votes on it and all that fun stuff*?
I don't think we've ever done that! Well, other than the 104 monster.
wink You should present the idea to Qixter and see what he says. Even if he says no, it'd be fun to have a thread about it in the forum somewhere. I really enjoy seeing what you guys come up with.

Who is in charge of writing, the storyline, plot, for zOMG. I do love that creative brain power.
That is Qixter and Bronstahd.

Next Chapter ideas:
Defeat of the Lag...dum dum dum (XD through the power of writing eh)
Oh, ouch. :p yes... we know..

I'd also love to know about the zOMG soundtrack
They're quite good and i'd like to know if it's available for purchase or download.
Also i'd like to know who the composer is.
I'm a musician myself and have been wondering for quite some time.
Thanks!
Through the music player in the game you get referenced to
http://www.directsong.com/ and if you follow some threads and what not, you'll figure out that the composer is Jeremy Soule:

I think someone may have addressed the purchase question somewhere in this thread already.

Defeating the lag means getting servers that are actually meant to host the game and the sheer number of players.
Really, many people talk about lag, but they mean different things. The first step is to figure out what they mean when they say lag and that is usually the hardest part.
wink Some people mean bad framerate, others mean that it takes time to load the game, while others are referring to the round trip time to the server, etc. and so on.
SirHacksAlot
OF course, this should also mean not loading up to 20 different sites for music, interfaces, and the like, this is how you destroy your servers and the game, massive lag, the lag increases, player number increases, server load reaches peak, server crashes until rebooted, problem starts over again.
Keep the entire DB on one server, and all the music and everything else on a second, lag issue resolved right there.
The servers are bloody fast, I think you're referring to the n^12 definition of lag: "My bandwidth is choking on all the content I'm downloading while playing the game!".
If you can make your browser cache more content, your experience gets better as you play. You end up caching more of the downloadable files and not having to fetch them each time.
SirHacksAlot
For example to show how much crud is being loaded, JUST TO LOGIN:
Server:
6 emote .SWF files,
1 TrackingManager SWF
1 UI manager SWF
1 UI worldlist SWF
1 Worldbubble SWF
1 Loadscreen SWF
1 Battle SWF
(12)
It looks like you missed a bunch! Your browser must have had most of it in it's cache. Really, we do have many files, but on average, you're downloading less than 10MB to play in a zone.
SirHacksAlot
Cache / Load upon everytime playing/using certain areas (increases DLs (downloads) when it shouldnt if preloaded)
10 directsong AEM files, all different locations on the directsong domain
(still 10)
Its like telling one guy to hold 22 boxes, and keep distributing 10 boxes to the same person over and over, it is overwhelming for the server, not to mention when you use foreign file types you generally have a much BIGGER file size (AEM files)
About the AEM files. I was skeptical also, but if you try to make an MP3 with the same quality the MP3 file ends up being larger. I also did CPU tests for MP3 vs AEM and AEM won out. sry.
wink
