Just a question. Go to post 21 Writers Tue Mar 10, 2009 2:33 am
Most of Terry Pratchett's books are not divided into chapters. I think he only starts using the chapter system from Making Money and the books following.

The way you structure your story has nothing to do with your writing. Most people won't care about the lack of chapters if they're focused on the actual narrative. wink I also don't use chapters a majority of the time. I don't think that life flows episodically and neither do my stories. I use breaks in the page to show passing time or a shifting scene.

You have a signature like mine.

You spell out signature instead of saying siggy or sig.

If you mis-spell any word at all, even by one letter, you HAVE to go back and edit it in forums or else you'll just DIE.

*coughs* In all technicality, your signature is a bit... hypocritical. When the bit saying "Don't you get it?" comes up, it's written "Dont" instead of "Don't." I'm not sure if you noticed that, but I thought that I ought to point it out.

At least I didn't see any misspellings in it! wink

That depends. What perspective are you writing from? First? Third limited? Third omniscient?

You might also want to mosey on over to this thread. The whole reason it exists is to help people like you. wink
Need to get a bigger vocabulary Go to post 46 Writers Sat Mar 07, 2009 2:01 am
Please, for the love of God, don't go to a thesaurus to expand your vocabulary. If you have to look the word up, it's obviously not the correct word.

However, you can broaden your vocabulary by reading. The dictionary, novels, whatever. That's about all that is going to get the job done and get it done well. :3 Also, I've found that taking Latin is causing my word choice to become more diverse. I doubt that you would go through the effort of picking up a dead language for the sole purpose of grasping some more interesting words, but it really does help.
When people ask you where you get your ideas Go to post 50 Writers Sun Dec 28, 2008 6:58 am
I've been asked it before. Mostly I just say, "My imagination, I suppose." I mean, what else are you supposed to say? It came from my muse? It was a Godsend? An idea is an idea; they come, they go, and you can't control where they come from.

I think it's a bit of a stupid question myself. =

Seeing as I'm a fangirl of both Pratchett and Gaiman, I've read it multiple times.

I love that book.

The spine's all cracked; there's an impressive coffee stain spanning across a few of the pages; I had to tape in one of the pages. I might even be on the verge of taping the spine with black duct tape and writing the title on with a metallic marker. It's the most beat-up book on my shelf, due to my constantly carrying it around and reading it. : D
How old were you when you started to write? Go to post 85 Writers Sun Dec 28, 2008 5:48 am
I think I was three or four. The story consisted of a series of stick figures, large and often backwards letters, and a title that was supposed to say, "Jenny and the Horse". Her horse was magical; therefore it could talk and make her as much cotton candy as she could eat. Then Jenny had to go save her horse when the pirates attacked. She ended up saving the day and it ended with her deciding to be friends with the pirate captain because she had found the Good inside of him. They shared cotton candy. The end.
