Allrighty, I’m posting here because I’m very new to Gaia, thus I don’t have much knowledge concerning the way things work here. I’d be very grateful for people to help me out and give me their opinions of what they think my artwork would be worth if I opened up a mini shop here 83 I’m not asking for Critic on my artwork and unless your post is something along the lines of “I think your artwork would be worth about__g” then don’t bother posting. My style of drawing may be abit different from what you usually see but don’t hold that against me ^^;
I’ll number them because a few different kinds of artwork, I’d enjoy it If you gave your opinion of a price on each numbered piece of artwork. Thank you <3

1.
-This is a Digital picture with simple shading. 83 Takes me about 2 hours

2.
-My personal favorite, Traditional artwork! I color them with a combination of Prismacolor and Copic markers. Takes me 2 ½ to 4 hours depending on the character design and the size of the picture. I also work with colored pencils. 83

3.
A very old picture ^^; that’s why it has obvious anatomy errors. But I’m using it for a example of the shading style. Simple sharp shading. Takes around 1 or 1 ½ hours.

4.
Detailed shading! This is really old ^^; bear with me people! Shading is very defined 83 Takes about 2 to 4 hrs.

5.
A simple shaded sketch. 83

Notice that these are only fullbody shots? That’s because I’m not willing to do anything else on this website xD

There IS a lot of that around here, though. Or at least there was, back when I posted here on a regular basis. Only reason I'm still here is because I like dressing up my avatar way too much for my own good XD

lOL I joined soully because I'm taking commissions soon and wanted to make my art abit more widespread before I did so. I'm going to save up to buy a better coloring program xD

Dress up doesn't seem to work for me, certain items I bought won't show up on my gaia avatar for some reason. Its getting really annoying but I wil say I love all the clothes options here 833 Its pretty cool!

Well good luck with that! If you want a better art program that won't totally rape your wallet, check out openCanvas. It's a Japanese program that sports basic features from PS and Painter, and it's really nice and compact--there's nothing to install, you just get a tidy little exe file :3 It's superior to PS by far for digital sketching and inking, imo.

I have actually heard of OpenCanvas before and have seen some artists create some relaly amazing stuff out of it! But I thought it had to be downloaded or something? and omgosh I'd do anything for better digital inking skills xD

I quite enjoy the cloths. Seriously, my only complaint is the shading. It looks a bit flat. I'd add more variation in colour and the legs it doesn't look like you did any shading or highlighting at all. o.O

Keep up the good work.

Allright I shall remember that next time. I usually pile on shading so much that my characters colors all darken xD But this time I just kinda fumbled around halfly because the colors I chose were hard for me to shade with my program. o.o oh yeah and I had to upload as a Jpeg file so it kinda ate off the shading for lunch xD

thanks btw 83

Pff, the hips aren't a bother--I draw narrow shoulders and exaggerated hips m'self. It's smaller stuff that's kind of difficult to explain without doing a sketch over. And if you think THAT'S flaming, good god woman, you must not spend much time on the internets 8B

I understand and whoa o.o Oh no this is just minor critic.Flaming is undesired critic and critic should be written out in a mature manor and should display both the good and bad qualities and not just the bad or comments like "this sucks". I'm taken some major bashing in my time. I just do not enjoy it when people who could draw no better or even draw worse than me act all high and mighty and insult me razz I'm not nessecarily talking about the people here, but I've dealt with it before.

EDIT: I only spend like atleast half my day on the internet xD

aksdhfajksldhfaklsjdfh paintshopprosuuuuucks! I'm sorry you have to suffer through that.

As for the skewing, if it's intentional exaggeration, then it's been executed pretty poorly--it just looks like you accidentally drew it at an angle and didn't notice. Here's what I mean by horizontal flipping:

And do you see what I mean by skewing? Like most things, that tends to diminish with time and practice as well. It's just really obvious in this piece. Also, beginner was perhaps not the best word choice on my part, my bad, but it IS a common problem among people who've only been putting serious effort into their work for a few years.

Edit : : And I just noticed the hand holding the wrench has been drawn backwards >_>; In order for the thumb to be pointing in that direction, the hand would have to be facing palm-out...

Oh I'm fine. I dont mind the flames cus I'm used to it. -.- Hmm I did think that the hips in this picture seemed abit too large. But my style leans more towards larger hips and smaller rib cages, at least for my female characters that is. I'd really like it if you looked at some of my other artwork and gave me your opinion on their proportions. This picture was abit wonky compared to the stuff that I usually create and I'd like an opinon on my other pieces because I think their proportions are drawn abit more correctly in other pictures ^^; If you'd surf my gallery abit at Anniepopokios.deviantart.com I'd be very grateful 83

Oh and if you would have read my post you would have noticed that I said the hand was drawn backwards. I didn't even notice it until the whole picture was colored xD and by that time it had been saved into a lower format which made the colors messy thus not making me want to have to suffer and make the hand look correct. Its about 50% laziness on my part and 50% my computers fault -.-

I know the eyes are supposed to be that way, but they really don't fit in with the rest of the drawing. Everywhere else, everything looks symmetric, except her wonky eyes which makes the whole drawing look out of proportion.

The other person meant if you flipped your whole drawing (mirror it), then you can easily spot mistakes you made in your anatomy.

The rest of your style is fine, it's just her eyes don't match.

Hmm I'm sorry but I just dont see what's so wrong with the eyes. I mean I'm messing around with new styles of drawing them because I'm not happy with them at all. I would have considered the nose far worse then the style of eyes. I guess I'll just fumble with my drawing style abit more.

Just because I dont draw in a generic anime style doesn't mean her face is "odd" She has panda eyes 83 nothing wrong with dat sad or atleast thats the way I see it. Thanks for your comment though <3

It has nothing to do with the fact that it's animu--her face is skewed. As in, not drawn straight. It's not just the face, though--everything from the hips up is skewed--it looks like some invisible force is tugging at it from the upper righthand corner and causing everything to slant in that direction. It's a common problem that plagues beginning artists. You might try flipping the canvas every so often as you work, as that tends to reveal wonkiness in your line art your eyes aren't accustomed to noticing yet. There are other anatomical disparities as well, but most of that will fix itself with time and practice.

What program are you using? I see yucky white gritties around the lineart, and I know a way to avoid having to deal with that if you're using Photoshorp :3

I appreciate the critic but the skewed look is due to an exagerated style of drawing. No offense but I'm not a beginning artist or atleast thats not what I would consider myself ^^; Could you elaborate on what you mean by flipping the canvas?

Oh I was too tired to get rid of the horrible whiteness xD I use the dumbest program in the world, Corel Paintshop pro, it's like a generic program of a generic program o.o

lolz.generic anime style! it looks like manhwa to me! i like it! yay for not drawing in generic anime style! :]

omgosh lulz I love you xD Oh and could you explain to me exactly what manhwa is? I've heard the term used before but I dont really know what it is o.o sorry for being annoying xD

btw thank you 83 I' not a big fan of the generic style. I mean its pretty but I dont want to draw it, I'd much rather be unqiue so people can recognize my artwork x3
