I'm going to throw my random two cents in and walk away. I've only read 4 pages of this or so, so these points probably have already been made, BUT:

A lot of people have said something along the lines of showing an ultrasound is bad, because it traumatizes a woman into not having one. Like, you shouldn't show somebody videos of how animals are slaughtered before they eat the burger.

I'd have to say--isn't it better that she knows exactly what she's aborting before she has the operation? Sooner or later she's going to find out what she aborted wasn't a lump of tissue, but a separate organism from herself with organs and nerve centers and fingernails and veins and whatnot (depending on how old it is, fingernails are 11 weeks, so probably none of those yet). If this would seriously bother her, or make her change her mind, it's better that she know before she makes the decision. So that she can actually make the decision and know what she's choosing. So a rape victim doesn't see a picture on a billboard somewhere three weeks afterward and go "Oh my God, it had a heartbeat!?" How was that her "choice"?

And I disagree with the cow analogy. They're not showing the woman videos of abortions being done, they're showing her what they're being done on. You're not showing somebody a slaughterhouse, you're showing them a video of ol' Bessie. Moo.

Another thing--no, you don't show a jury debating the death penalty pictures or videos of the defendant as a child. But they generally see the defendant. Is that emotional manipulation?

It's serious, and she should have the information. Whether she should have it 2 hours before the abortions she scheduled--probably not. No. But I agree with the basic concept.

The other thing is that "pregnant woman have hormones, therefore they can make quick decisions". Nothing says she can't reschedule the abortion later if it really was just a decision she was traumatized into, right? The doctor's not lying. He's showing her what her decision is going to terminate. She should know beforehand.
