You know what.

Thank you.
Thank you for actually believing in the art of poetry.

I get exceptionally frustrated when I read s**t like that, too, because it's serious business when someone's actually in a depressive state.
you know, been there, done that, still trying to make sense of it all.

Ditto.

what i can not understand are the anti americans in america it doesent make sense i can understand being from another country and being anti american but why be anti american in america were one of the greatest countries

You can love the country and what it represents without supporting the leadership or the direction it's going.
yeah but how can you call the flag stupid and screw it and screw are heroes thats exactly what i heared someone say in my class

The flag is a piece of cloth, and EVERY country has heroes. There's nothing that makes ours better than anyone else's.
adhd real or fake disorder? Go to post 281 Extended Discussion Tue Sep 23, 2008 8:15 am

I think a lot of what we consider ADHD is really a result of trapping a bunch of 6 year olds in one spot for 8 hours with only one 15 minute break and 30 minute lunch to let them get their energy out. I mean, I get reallyreally antsy at a job I like after that long....

I wasn't diagnosed until I was 16. It took years and years of frustration and failing grades to even convince my parents to get me tested -- and I didn't actually want ADD testing. I just knew there was "something" wrong with me because on bad days, it really is a very specific feeling.

There is no one solution that can apply to every single person for any medical condition. Even vaccines have a percent of people who it doesn't work on. You can't expect miracles. Not everyone is the same inside their head, the chemicals in ritalin don't work on me the same way they do on, say, black_wing_angel.

Exactly. That's why there are so many different treatments for ADHD. Body chemistry is an inexact science because it varies from one person to another, so that while the same basic chemical is causing symptoms of ADHD, regulating it is something that has to be figured out differently.

Ritalin made my panic disorder so bad I actually couldn't eat for a month. sad
Hoodie are now banned in some NJ schools Go to post 83 Extended Discussion Mon Sep 22, 2008 1:46 am
FYI, almost every public school in the country had very strict dress codes when my parents were kids, probably when a lot of yours were too. And I'm not just talking hoodies. Kids would get sent home for having the wrong kind of shoes or a skirt above the knees.
Breastfeeding: Disgusting??? Go to post 334 Extended Discussion Mon Sep 22, 2008 1:34 am

Breast feeding looks painful to me, I think if women don't want to because of that, I think its fine. Or for whatever their reasons.

Its actually still your own body.

My best friend had a baby a year ago and just recently weaned her. Concerning breastfeeding being "painful" -- it was for her initially during the first few weeks because her daughter was unusually aggressive about it, but she learned she didn't have to try so hard and calmed down. In most situations, breastfeeding is not remotely painful -- it's actually painful NOT to, apparently, because your body IS making milk so even if you don't breastfeed, you still almost have to pump it or it is VERY uncomfortable.

I'm Writing This With My Left Hand

Summary: Found almost illegibly scrawled on the side of Thangorodrim. Maedhros, introspective.

I'm writing this
with my
left hand,
thinking
about
the state of my
right;

chained to the
mountain,
incidentally;

and if anyone
but me
should ever
chance
to read this,

I hope
he shall not
thereafter
have cause
to pity
what became
of the
rest of
me.

This actually sounds pretty interesting...

I live in New York. Anyone know how I can find out said spirit animal?

Meditation. Research. Or often people find that their totem is an animal they already feel some strong inexplicable fondness for.

I see...what does the specific animal mean?

You can google totem meanings for most animals. There's a little variation, especially in more obscure ones, but not too much I've found. Personally, I have a book.

its funny that people want them just to be cool.

if only they new how scary it could get.

Because saying your soul is looked after by an animal isn't scary in a schizophrenic kind of way? neutral

...uhh. No.

Yes, because his hair and facial piercings are the reason why he is failing his classes.

Honestly, I'm sure there are students who look extremely conservative that are getting the same grades as him.

Please prove their is a correlation between his appearance and his grades.

There is none. My futration comes at the fact that, if you want to fight social norm, shouldn't you be good at it? Shouldnt ou be able to be successful and a deviant at the same time? If you arent, dont you just prove the point you parents despirately want to be true; that looking like a freak = failure at life?

Or, arguably, he is doing the best he can and this is just a field he is not good at. I knew several college students that were failing at one major only to to exceed at their new one after a switch.

Not to mention you don't know what is currently going on in his life that may be impacting his grades.

You are making a number of assumptions based only on his appearance.

Agreed.

In my experience, ultimately, appearance doesn't tell you much about a person's mental state or abilities.
