I Hope This Is The Right Place To Be Asking...

Okay, So I'm looking around to buy a vehicle, but I don't want something considered a sports car cause I dont want to have to pay an arm and a leg for insurance... I found this Nice 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt LT Two Door; Is this considered a sports car cause I'm not totally positive... D:

Also, if you know of any good brand of car, any make or model, let me know, of course I'm looking for used vehicles and I'm trying to stay in the 5k mark but I'm willing to go to 8k.

Help A girl out who don't know too much about vehicles...?

A Cobalt is not a sportscar, but it's not a bad car. I'd rather have a Cobalt than a Civic, Scion, or Corolla. The two door Cobalt is a clean looking car, and the rear with the four circle lights looks good.

Would be nice if the Cobalt were RWD. xp

What? Are you expecting stitched leather dashes in the sub-$20K class? The Cobalt's interior is no worse than a Corolla's, Civic's, or Sentra's.

It would be nice to have a Cobalt with a Lexus-style interior. xd

Silly insurance companies. "OH MY GOD! It has two doors! It MUST be a sportscar!" Despite the fact that it'll get smoked by Accords, Altimas, Camrys, Fusions, Malibus, and many other bread and butter mid-sized family sedans.

I know right! It makes me sad D:

No, not at all. However, my experience with one was.. less than stellar.

Friend had a VW jetta that got squished by a truck, so the insurance company got him a rental cobalt 4 door.

Yegods. The plastic fitment was atrocious. It rattled and squeaked at 35 mph. The doors close with a flimsy-sounding "Ting". (Close a door on a subaru legacy, you get a good, solid "Thunk". Close a door on a classic american muscle car, you get a solid metal "clang". This felt, and sounded like closing plastic firmly.) The interior door panel fabric coverings were scratchy and bland. The seats were ok, not uncomfortable, but nothing to write home about. The automatic shifter handle felt weak, steering wheel felt thin. The interior was just not a nice place to be.

Otherwise, the car was ok. Handling was realtively crisp, but you didn't get good feedback from the tires. The engine was rattly and lacked oomph. Put your foot down and you get a lot of noise, but not much else.

I understand, it's cheap. I get that. It just felt.. *really* cheap. The trunk lid felt like it was made out of sheet aluminium.

I just wasn't really fond of the car.

I can't do an honest comparison between a Civic, because the only one's I've had experience in were either circa 95, or my friends 07 Civic Si, which is actually quite nice. I quite like that car, except for the dash being a football field, and the lack of rear headroom. The shifter is also tiny, however, my friend is 5'4", and relatively small build, so it fits him fine. XD

The one 05 Sentra I've been in felt, overall, much nicer than the Cobalt, but I didn't spend a lot of time in it, so I didn't really get to know it.

Also, this was the most basic, cheapest 4 door cobalt offered. A coworker of mine had an 06 Cobalt 2 door (The spec below the SS) which had a much nicer interior, but I beleive he paid for that package, don't know for sure.
