It's a little farsighted. It's always hard for me to belive something which has not happened directly to me or I have not seen it happen. I had a dream today. A dream that we were visited by aliens. Not in this area but a era long before that. Ancient astronauts. Ancient astronaut theories or paleocontact are various proposals that intelligent extraterrestrial beings (called ancient astronauts or ancient aliens) have visited Earth and that this contact is linked to the origins or development of human cultures, technologies, and/or religions.

Some of these theories suggest that deities from most—if not all—religions are actually extraterrestrials, and their technologies were taken as evidence of their divine status.

Probably because they were supposed to be symbols of fertility in women, or tributes to "the Great Mother" or "Mother Goddess". Though not entirely scientific "fact", it's the most likely function. Hell, the idea that they were the earliest form of porno was more likely than "alien visitors".

Okay aliens came to earth long ago..........and help humans build things............. okay either they whre just extremely bord or they where just friendly enough to help us in building stuff so that they can just destroy it later on in the future.............also if aliens did came to earth then well i am pretty sure that well we would have found a body because they would not be able to stand our atmosphere with our bacteria and would have died now unless the aliens where well burned by our ansestors then i hightly dought that they even came here or we would have found a body

If aliens came to earth, I'm pretty sure THEY'D STILL BE HERE. We'd also have found a ton of evidence if they were here, esp. if they had the strong impact that all the cracked-out trekkies suggest. We'd also have more consistant accounts of them being here (like you said, bodies), rather than just taking religious figures and assuming that they were some how aliens.
Society just keeps getting more ridiculous by the minute.

I watched a kids show one time about alien landings in which there was a mini-segment where a guy gave you simple, step-by-step instructions to create a surprisingly realistic UFO video. Given that there are hundreds of billions of galaxies, the idea that there isn't something else out there is as ridiculous as the idea that they were a part of human history.

I always found it kinda funny; people using things with mundane explanations as evidence, but never anything extraordinary. For once, I'd like to see something convincing. How about a piece of mathematics that patches up our lacking areas of understanding in modern physics? Some sort of special unearthly synth-metal? Some new feasible space ship propulsion technology, a narrow-band radio transmission that doesn't come from our planet, or a bit of alien DNA, etc, etc? How come we never see anything like this? I'll tell you why. Those sorts of things are very very difficult to fabricate.

The massive amount of stars and the already growing numbers of extrasolar planets is a testament to the possibility (I might even go so far as to say, the undeniable fact) that there is life elsewhere, but this says nothing of the possibility of visitation.

The distances between us and our nearest stars (very few of which are likely candidates for having habitable planets) are so great that if there are alien beings living on a planet orbiting them, the only information they'd have about us by now is news footage about World War 2. This doesn't mean that an advanced alien civilization wouldn't have the technologies to traverse such distances, but if even the closest stars to us have just now received some of our earliest bits of radio transmissions, and 99.999... percent of the other stars in this galaxy have received nothing, how would they know we're here? What would be significant enough about this one star, and this one tiny spec of a planet to warrant the long and tedious travel here?

To them, I think Earth would be nothing more then just another tiny rocky planet, orbiting a relatively humdrum star, tucked away in some forgotten corner of a spiral arm of a galaxy composed of a billion stars of which many are indistinguishable from ours. Visitations from alien life seems incredibly improbable.
