one theroy is you can go through a black hole (at the right angle) and ethir travel in time or be send to anouther part of the univiers but the poissibilaty of hiting that angle is so tiny that it is not a good idea.i think you could use the gravity of a black hole to sling shot to the speed of light but that angle would be hard to hit to because not even light can escape black holes.if you hit it strait on you would be sucked in. so the chanst of even going the speed of is not problable.

time travel is possible and i have done it...

first, you must all understand that all us humans are traveling forward through time as we percieve it. have you ever noticed that when you are hanging with your friends time flys and when you are taking a test time seems to stop.

time as we see it s based on the ammount of realizations that we experiance in a certain amount of "time" therefore the faster we think the slower time goes because we are constantly observing and catagorizing and thinking.

but if you were to stop thinking or at least slow down you would be able to effectively warp into the future. normal people would see you as a person siting, braindead but you wouldn't realize it and as you percieve it, time would have skiped a beat.

as i said, i have done this but there are some restrictions, you cannot time travel past your own life span, you usually cant travel farther than the next time you have to eat or go to the bathroom, and once you travel foreward you can never go back.

in order to do it you must focus on absolutly nothing. you must cease to realize that you are you and that you are stuck in a body, i usually play some music that i have memorized so that i dont ave to focus on lyrics or instruments, then find somrthing repetitive to do, i make chainmaille so i have a unique case. but anything repetitive should do. then you must think of toataly unrelated things while you do something repetitive and are not focusing on music.

good music is- symphony, LOTR soundtrack (my fav), techno might do it

good rpetitive stuff- chainmaille, knitting, filling in square of graph paper?

for info on how to make chainmaille go to

www.theringlord.com

chainmaille is cool to use because when you get good at it and time travel, it's like going to sleep and waking up with a finished product that took hours to create, but it never got boreing, if you use chainmaille though, you will have to be good at it, you cant be focusing on the pattern at all, it should come natuarlly, the same goes for knitting and weaving

if anyone has any info that can help or has any question, just pm me or you can post it here

and if anyone decides to try it, DEFINATLY post here first so i can give you more advise

happy time traveling
its called zoning out

Note to elano:

Really, all you did was change your perception of time. With that logic, I can travel through time simply by existing.

And I'd just like to say that even if someone can accelerate or slow down time, none of us would realize it. It would still move at the same pace to us. Our perception of it isn't being changed, so it stays the same.

have you even read this thread? i'm not even talking about physical time travel, i'm talking about mental travel.

and yes you guys, i know that i'm not actually traveling through time

not to sound like a skeptic to time travel but it seems that someone has been watching the butterfly effect just a bit too much...

Time travel according to "Traditional Physics" is not a posibility. You can only pause time for yourself if you travel at the speed of light. Meaning time will flow normaly for us and for you it will pause. Only little problem is that requires infinite energy. Now with some "exotic physics" that may be a posibility... But we can only speculate the posible outcomes.

i have never seen the butterfly effect

and that has to do with going back in time, not controlling you speed through it forward

it's wierd, because time isn't physical. We can't go back in time because time is an abstract thing. It's a thing but does not exist in reality.

Time abstract. It's about as tangeble as pity, love, and sadness. You can't
touch or minipulate them physically in a dramatic way, it's effected by the way you think.

Time travel is only possible by the one who created time, feeling, and the
mind. That would be a supernatural beind, God I believe.

Not true, if you believe Stephen Hawking. He's argued that time is intrinsically related to the physical world, through entropy. The second law of thermodynamics states that entropy can only increase over time. For example, the icecream on the floor melts (by absorbing the ground's heat) - it does not give it's heat to the floor and stay frozen. The point of this is that it gives a definite direction to time, if not a speed. We can be sure that if we see icecreams on the floor unmelting that we are going back in time. This links time to the physical world, so time is, for all intents and purposes, physical.

Now if time is physical then it should be observable by all. Einstein showed that the passage of time is dependant on your current relative velocity. Considering how well that theory has performed, I'm certainly not going to argue with it. All Einstein said, however, was that the speed at which time passes is relative, and time stops at the speed of light. He also said that nothing can cross the speed of light boundary (if I am going slower than light, I cannot ever then go faster that light, likewise if I am going faster than light, I cannot ever go slower than light).

So entropy determines the forward direction of time, and relativity says that the time arrow cannot change direction for anyone. This means that entropy will always be preserved. It's a nice way of verifying the entropy law.

Of course none of this is true if the whole universe does a weird flip or something, and reverses it's direction of expansion (ie. starts collapsing). But that's for another day... biggrin

As self defeating as this is... stressed Please please PLEASE don't bump.

stare Now look, if you age without any sort of thought, you are basicly just living, but without doing anything. Why, you could get by years and years of your life without doing anything and most people actually try to avoid that sort of thing. It's called, "doing nothing with your life."

Well...We invented the name time for the apparent changes in the world around us, and as a system for a more organized human life...the word "time" is irrelevant, but the passage of time is definite because it is always there, whether preceived as being slow or fast. Taken to the extreme, this is a mathematical figure, ergo it is ingrained in the universal language( mathematics) and cannot be erased, tampered with, or warped without a mathematical explanation in our universe...that is just what MY current veiw on the subject is... 3nodding sweatdrop

Time doesn't change for one person at all. Look at that one Teen Titan's episode. Starfire went into the future, and when she did she apparently had disappeared 20 years before when she was fighting this guy who can travel through time. Time didn't go forward for her and her alone but for everyone, and the whole timeline had been changed because she went forward in time.
