If you want to screw around with time, find a black hole and perform your own experience. Or, even better, find a way to travel faster than the speed of light!

Time is imperceptable, but it exists. It was recorded that speed does affect time. Scientists had two atomic clocks (most accurate ever created), one in a jet the other on the ground. The plane took off, went as fast as it could in a circle, landed and it was recorded that the jet clock had slowed down at a very small margin.

Also, though not fully understood, it is apparent to scientists that a black hole distorts all concept of time, and if you were to be sucked into a black hole, your watch will slow down and stop at the event horizon. Also, if you were being watched by some space vehicle of some sort, it will seem like you have stopped at the event horizon and you still exist, when in fact you have gone through spaghettification and have exploded.

Time is funky, but you can't travel in time.

i know (really) how to time tavel. even though its impossible now to go even close to the speed of light, if we could.....you can go forward in time, with little of your time given. time has a speed, the speed of light. and the closer you get to that speed, the less time affects you (example)

To say it reads 12 noon is to say that the light that carries the information “12 noon� is reflected by the clock and travels along your line of sight. If you suddenly move your head, the light carrying the info., instead of meeting your eye, would travel past…presumably into space. Out there an observer who later sees the light with the info. “12 noon� will say “oh, its 12 on earth now� but the distance will have changed that, from your point of reference it would be later. If you then moved at the speed of light, and caught up with the signal saying 12 noon, and looked behind you, it would always say 12 noon and the village square around the clock would have stopped, as if time has frozen. Basically if you stand still you see time go as 60 seconds per minute, where as if you were going the speed of light it would take an infinite amount of time for a second to pass. biggrin

your perception of time is not altered by doing this for when you stop you know where you were how long you were there and what you could have been doing... like sleep you cannot make a successful argument that you time traveled in your sleep because no matter what you stop your still breathing your heart is still beating you are getting older, so affectively you cannot alter your timeline you will continue down it till death other forms of time travel have been ruled out also

I'm sorry if this is wrong, and please correct me if it is, but I think the rule is faster speed=slower time. If you for one second, stopped, i.e. COMPLETLY STOPPED, 0mph, wouldn't you age much faster than me if i stayed on earth?

In your case, time travel is meditation. And for another case, time doesnt exist, so you cannot travel from one point in time to another. Time is something intelligence made up.

Why should time slow down just because of one mental perception? Not only does this not have any related half atempted physics (such as time is relative to your speed and postition in space) but is talking nonsense, and psycological nonsense at that.

Time doesn't stop because humans want it to without any manipulation.

first of all, what your talking about is jsut like getting drunk, when you wake up, a whole night seemed to pass in a instant, thats not time travel, second, we are always traveling through time, no matter how we precieve it. third, teh more internal working your brain is going through, like you said of catageroizing crap like that, the less it has to focus on the outside world, theirefore makeing it seem as if you jsut skipped a few minutes

E = mc2...energy=mass X the speed of light to the 2nd power. this is the formula for the theory of special reletivity. it basically states that if a human were to travel at the speed of light, then time will cease for the person, and the person can go into the future without aging a year.
what happens PAST the speed of light however, We don't know.

I understand this point of view, if this person means what I think they mean. Reality is built entirely on perception. What one perceives is real and tangible it exist. Be it your imaginary friend, or be it the voice that whispers in your ear. No before I get flamed for 'talking nonsense', I don't mean that this perceived reality has physical consequence or has a measurable trace of it's exist. Though technically it does I won't go into that. However I am suggesting that everyone lives in there own little world. There own little pocket of reality created by no one other than themselves. This is one of the untapped powers of the human mind. Meaning that one could live in a dessert and eat nothing but cacti and lizards. And at the same time live in an Eden filled with all the things that could bring them joy in life.
