Welcome to Gaia! ::

time travel is possible and i have done it...

first, you must all understand that all us humans are traveling forward through time as we percieve it. have you ever noticed that when you are hanging with your friends time flys and when you are taking a test time seems to stop.

time as we see it s based on the ammount of realizations that we experiance in a certain amount of "time" therefore the faster we think the slower time goes because we are constantly observing and catagorizing and thinking.

but if you were to stop thinking or at least slow down you would be able to effectively warp into the future. normal people would see you as a person siting, braindead but you wouldn't realize it and as you percieve it, time would have skiped a beat.

as i said, i have done this but there are some restrictions, you cannot time travel past your own life span, you usually cant travel farther than the next time you have to eat or go to the bathroom, and once you travel foreward you can never go back.

in order to do it you must focus on absolutly nothing. you must cease to realize that you are you and that you are stuck in a body, i usually play some music that i have memorized so that i dont ave to focus on lyrics or instruments, then find somrthing repetitive to do, i make chainmaille so i have a unique case. but anything repetitive should do. then you must think of toataly unrelated things while you do something repetitive and are not focusing on music.

good music is- symphony, LOTR soundtrack (my fav), techno might do it

good rpetitive stuff- chainmaille, knitting, filling in square of graph paper?

for info on how to make chainmaille go to

www.mailleartisans.org
www.theringlord.com

chainmaille is cool to use because when you get good at it and time travel, it's like going to sleep and waking up with a finished product that took hours to create, but it never got boreing, if you use chainmaille though, you will have to be good at it, you cant be focusing on the pattern at all, it should come natuarlly, the same goes for knitting and weaving

if anyone has any info that can help or has any question, just pm me or you can post it here

and if anyone decides to try it, DEFINATLY post here first so i can give you more advise

happy time traveling
Why should time slow down just because of one mental perception? Not only does this not have any related half atempted physics (such as time is relative to your speed and postition in space) but is talking nonsense, and psycological nonsense at that.

Time doesn't stop because humans want it to without any manipulation.

Everything in the universe as we know it is dependent upon our perception of it. That way you could half argue what is being proposed.

::takes off his pseduo-thinking cap::

Then again, it could just be mindless tosh.
Another way to do this is to drive down a long, straight stretch of interstate at night. Your mind gets so bored with the continual lack of input that it starts making stuff up and/or warping the space-time continuum.

Of course, because if one person is bored, the entire universe shifts to accomodate them.

See, right now, I'm so bored, we're all moving forward in time..........................................

It's now 2012! Sweet!

On a non sarcastic note-One person's perception does not change time. Sure, for that person, their perception is warped while they do this, but time still moves the same for everyone(Including the person). Therefore: It is not time travel. Time travel would be if time moves differently for you than it does for everyone else. Your idea is not valid because technically, when we sleep, we experience the same thing. Is sleep time travel? Nope.

Observation or perception. True, you could say that one man's view may be the one for which we all perceive, but I rather agree more with your latter statment. A particular peeve of mine is pseduo-science.

At the risk of this sounding like gibberish because I'm not sure how to explain it... sweatdrop

First dictionary.com's definintion best suited to this discussion:
[time is]A nonspatial continuum in which events occur in apparently irreversible succession from the past through the present to the future.

Time is just a human's perception of events taking place, so really you move foward in time, but it is just events taking place. If you did something to tune out your mind you would not really be time traveling, only disregarding the passage of events. Even if you are not aware of things happening, they still happen.

Example: you were not aware that my dog is eating, but she is still eating.

I just gave myself a headache, hope this had some relevence.

*ahem* theory of relativity anyone? Remember Einstein's train and clock experiment? Time flits by for the observer, but the man on the train sees the seconds ticking by as normal
You, my friend, are wrong, for in fact, our perception of time might stop, but time wouldn't stop; we wouldn't be aware of time's passage. It's like saying that when we sleep we travel into the future!
If you are familiar with Nikola Tessla's theories on sonic resonance, than you know that time travel is possible, the man built a frigging earthquake machine!

Oh my gosh, I loved this! Oh, and your plug for chainmail is awesome!
time is the 4th demension, not a concept made by man
This is your perseption of time that is changing, not time itself. Time is a actually thing, it is not an abstract idea, and it cannot be altered by human thought.

though it is possiable to slow time down (or spped it up depending on how you look at it) through extream speeds
