We have no idea how fully functional A.I would function, operate, and understand at this point. Therefore, we have no idea how a 'sentient' robotic life form would act.

If it did not have a fully functional A.I, it would have to obey is code directly. Any programmer or robotics major can tell you, it'd only follow things the way they were inputted. So they would not bend, break, alter, or misunderstand the "rules" or "code" put in to them. It's just impossible.
