I think it's obvious that (1) Dinosaurs could easily have been mistaken for dragons, especially the Western version of them and (2) there is no possible way for the Eastern dragons to exist, with their lack of wings or other way to fly, and the wing surface area to body mass of the Western dragons is highly inefficient for sustained flying. Pterodactyls were probably the closest thing we've ever gotten to dragons on this Earth.
I don't pretend to be a dragon hater, infact I love them. I just know that it is scientifically impossible. |

The laws of physics on our world would not be able to support these creatures. If they did live in an enviroment where gravity that enabled Eastern or Western dragon to fly, then humans would probably be unable to inhabit it with them as that enviroment could cause too much strain on our bodies. Or at least that's my theory.

Heh, I love the quoting of physics laws as an attempt to disprove dragons could fly. According to the laws of physics bumblebees can't fly, due to thier insufficient wing to body ratio, however every spring the big queens are always knocking about trying desperatley to start their hives.
I personally believe in dragons, but to assume they're as big as people claimed is probably silly. Think of it this way, how many fishermen do you know who over-estimate the size of the one that got away, stories grow with time and repetition. Also remember this, science as a dicipline isn't infallible. It's strength comes from it's inherent cynical nature. biggrin |

BTW, Bumblebee flight is perfectly reasonable.The bumblebee can fly because its wings encounter dynamic stall in every oscillation cycle. |

If size can change with telling, so can various attributes like wings and fire breathing. at what point would you not be able to stretch the story to still call them dragons? Why bother trying to find a dragon like that when there are so many other interesting creatures out there we already have discovered... |
