Welcome to Gaia! ::

evolution dosen't neccicarily have anything at all to do with religion. You can believe that both are true or niether or one or the other.

The theory of Evolution, is by definition, a religion.

Religion is any belief that requires one to to assume it's thesis in the lack of any substantial physical or mathematical proof.

Proof is anything can is open to public viewing and vigorous scientific scrutiny.

There is a large amount of proof for evolution. It is in no way a religion. Also that isnt even the definition of religion. What are you even babbling about?

It is a religion if by religion you mean any explanation for the things we don't have an almost innate control over around us.

Can't see any reason you'd want to use a definition like that, except to try and convince yourself that it's all just opinion and personal preference.
If I haven't replied yet, it's evolution for me.

But I don't really get the debate in the first post. In our schools we get to learn a bit of both and of different religions. However it's all taught from a rather objective point of view. Religions are taught in philosophy, evolution in biology. I really don't see the problem.
Science and Religion shouldn't even be on the same axiom.
Science is based on cause and effect while Religion is theological.

So when it comes to creationism and evolution and which is more logical, evolution I'd pick.
Evolution is actually proven, natural selection is a common cause of it.

They're not mutually exclusive. I believe that evolution happens and I believe that religions also happen. I have concrete observational evidence of churches, although I can't be sure that it isn't just noisy data, nor do I ascribe to the theory that the only possible explanation of churches is in fact religion; it could have been random chance. In fact, I have more concrete evidence for the occurence of religion, both historically and in the present, than I do of evolution, since I have not witnessed as many instances of populations evolving as I have of people acting religious (or, more specifically, events most easily explained as such).

Creationism isn't science. It never will be. People who try and make it science don't under that religion and science are fundamentally different. Religion is based on faith - which means belief when their is no proof. Science is based on evidence - belief only with proof. Religion can never become science as it gets the answers first, than tries to find questions in the world to fit their belief, and science is based on asking questions and then trying to find answers - whether they fit your preconceived views or not.

...I believe in evolution because I am a logical and cognitive person, and it's a scientifically proven theory.
