As some may know, Enstein published his own theory of gravity in whitch all objects in space rest on a 3 dimentional net of space and time. Only problem is, that would mean that the universe is flat and this would mean that 3 dimentional objects could not exsist if it itself is a force of gravity. It would mean that only 2 dimentional objects could exsist.
I propose that there is a fith dimention of space in addition to the 3 of space and 1 of time we all know about.
We can not perceve this 4th dimention of space because of the fact that we are in 3 dimentions of space.
Thus, I have come to the conclusion that for gravity to exsist in a universe, the net of space-time for that universe must have 1 more dimentions of space than however many dimentions of space are percevied in the universe itself.

Just a little side note, according to 1 therory, the big-bang happened because the universe origonally exsisted in 10 dimentions but was unstable so it split. Why would it not split evenly and produce two 5 dimentional universes?

THIS IS SPARTA!!!!!!!!!!

the string theory,
look it up.
it's exactly what you are looking for 3nodding

used to be one of the rotten ones and I liked you for that.
Just wondering... you know that there are the three spacial dimensions (Forgive me if I'm way off here but I'm a little scratchy on this) being x,y and z. Then there is the +1 (4th) dimension being that of time.
So an object can travel in all 3 dimensions of space as we do every day, and we are inevitably traveling through the 4th of time which we cannot stop or manipulate, so my question is that if you suggest there maybe being a 5th dimension that we are going through also what do you suppose it is? And I think... we're already in 10... or 11 dimensions... I'm not sure as said I'm scratchy on the subject xD Just wanting to know what you're proposing here.

Here's the 'mature' way to end an argument that you lack the IQ to win:

Nuff said.

Perhaps you should look up "Itzhak Bars of the University of Southern California in Los Angeles". He has suggested that instead of one dimensions of time there may be two. Not ONE, not THREE, but TWO.

Just a small clarification: Technically it's possible to manipulate our path through time. It's just impossible to stop traveling through it altogether. But anyway...

Extra dimensions allow some nifty mathematics, and particle physicists often postulate extra spatial (and sometimes extra temporal) dimensions to try and unify different facets of nature. So the type of extra dimensions you want to postulate really depends on what you're trying to formulate.

To be honest I'm not sure I see much motivation for postulating extra dimensions at all. Though I'm involved in experimental physics so I'm pretty predictable that way.

Do you mean like special relativity? I think thats what it was anyways correct me if I'm wrong but it's the theory that traveling at the speed of light changes how you pass through time, or at any high speeds for that matter. Or is just any normal speed Relativity, and light speed is Special Relativity... I'm not sure it's a while since I read into this. If you mean something completely different please do tell ^^

Yar. The theory of special relativity tells us we stand still in time. And since space and time are unified, your passage through space affects your passage through time. Even walking technically has an effect.

Also, the difference between special and general relativity is curved spacetime/gravitation needs the more powerful maths found in general relativity.
