How to report a Bug

First thing to do when a member contact you regarding a possible bug:

1. Check an announcement!
If user experience a problem during some new project push it is probably
temporary and will be resolved after push is completed.

2. Can you reproduce the problem?

To make sure the problem is real:
Clean up the cache and cookie
Log out and log in back
Is it still reproducible?
If it is reproducible, please provide the following information:

OS: Mac? Win? WinXP?
Browser: IE6? IE7? FF? Safari? Opera?
Version: FF 2.0.5? FF 3? IE7 sp 2?
Brief description of the problem
steps to reproduce:

3. Before you report the bug, please check other people's reports!!!!

4. Please report 1 bug in 1 post

REPORTING A BUG

Provide detailed and useful information when reporting!
The purpose of reporting a bug is so that later on a Developer will have enough information to reproduce the problem and resolve it. Reports made that do not provide useful information and are vague with no detail will be deleted.

Be descriptive in your title
Don't just put "Bug" in your title. For example, if something like Cinemas isn't poping up, put "Gaia Cinemas isn't popping up Bug."

Here's an example of how to write a bug:


Computer Specs:
Windows Vista Home Edition
Internet Explorer 7.0.6000.16609
Flash 9.0.115.0

Location:
Slots (Upper right hand corner of game)

Bug:
Playing winnings button does not work when you have over 10 winnings awarded

Reproduction:
1) Go to www.gaiaonline.com/
2) Log in as a user: user name and password
3) Go to the web page www.gaiaonline.com/games
4) Click on Slots
5) Pick any available room
6) Click on the Join button
7) Click on the Play Token button
cool Click on the Spin button
9) Repeat steps 7-8 until you have at least 10 winnings awarded

*Current winnings will display the number 10, right below Tickets and Tokens on the left center side

10) Click on the Play Winnings button

Result:
The button will not work. The current winnings do not decrement (decrease). The spin button does not work since no winnings or tokens are used.

Notes:
Any useful information goes here, such as how often this occurred.

If you notice for the above bug, it is very detailed and concise. If you were to go through the reproduction steps, you should be able to reproduce the bug, or if it is uncommon, occasionally reproduce the bug. smile

Notice how everything is vague? If you were to try to go through the steps again, you would not have a clue where to start. Try to be as detailed as you can by giving any information such as: computer information and what you were doing before, if you used any power ups, etc. This way we can narrow down the possibilities.

Short description of the problem: When you receive a trade notification and go to your requests in My Gaia, the username link of the trader links to your profile rather than the trader's profile. In my case, the link URL is: http://www.gaiaonline.com/profiles/?trade_id=32273803&_gaia_t_=4876

Step 1- receive a trade notification

My marketplace wont let me sell 10 items. This has been going on for almost 3-4 weeks.
It shows 9 items and when I click to sell the 10th one, it says I can only sell 10 items. But
I only have 9 items in my shop.

I logged out of gaia and signed back in many times.
I hover over shops, click marketplace, then hover over marketplace and click my shop.
I even tried going to my inventory and clicked on the item I want to sell and it pops
up and I click sell in marketplace and it still shows that I have 10 items in my shop even though
I only have 9.

Please fix this or at least reply back on what's going on/being done. I've been reporting this everywhere for the past 3 1/2 weeks and no one reply's. Thank you.

It's been happening for over a month, when I try to collect my daily chance on the "Shops" landing page, I get a message telling me "Permission Error: There was a problem granting your request." I've tried refreshing the page, but it doesn't help, no matter how many times I refresh.

Browser: Chromium

Operation system: Ubuntu 12.04 32-bit
Location: Shops landing page, Daily Chance cart.

Step 1- Log onto www.gaiaonline.com

Step 3- Click on the Daily Chance Cart

Act result: Loads a page with only the message "Permission Error: There was a problem granting your request. Please try again."

Recieving Gaia Cash from offers bug
Short description of the problem: I recently completed the swagbucks offer to recieve 100 Gaia Cash. I created an account and confirmed the e-mail I recieved but never got my Gaia Cash. This was about a week and a half ago.

Step 1- Log onto www.gaiaonline.com

Step 2- Went to Gaia Cash offers clicked on the link for swagbucks offer

Step 3- Made first account ever and confirmed e-mail

Step 4- Did not recieve reward which says is rewarded imediatly

Step 5- waited a week still nothing

Suppose to Result: I was supossed to recieve 100 Gaia Cash for finishing the offer


Act result: Did not recieve 100 Gaia Cash

Any time I hover my mouse over an object on the page for the first time once, it'll disappear. Only one item per page does this disappearing act, so once I hover it over something I won't be using just then, I can proceed to what I was doing.


Step 1- Click on any page

Step 2- Hover mouse over object

Step 3- Watch as object that was hovered over disappears

Step 4- Refresh page

Step 5- Hover mouse over object that I won't be needing to make it disappear instead

Step 5 - Proceed to the object I was using.

Suppose to Result:
Objects are supposed to remain on the page.


Act result:
Objects up and running away on mouse hover over.


Only doing this on Gaia however.

Short description of the problem: None of my threads in my clan are updating, even though people have said they have posted several times.
Wait! I may have fixed it. Somehow. I will ask someone to post again, and see i
f it comes up.

Step 2- Click 'QuickLinks' on Meebo bar to my Clan. (Saves time)

Step 3- Clicks the Clan link open, to view recent post

Step 4- Click on actual thread.

Step 5- No new post have showed up.

Suppose to Result: Updated threads.


Act result: Waited until login timer timed out, then refreshed to log in again, to see that the threads are updated. When I logged in again, it goes right back to looking as if it never updated. It's a little frustrating. I tried posting myself, to see if it would update, and nothing is coming up.

Please help before I pull my hair out.
Hello, I've been having a problem with accessing the shops and my avatar since the Halloween event came into existence. I have no clue why else it would happen, but I use Chrome as the internet engine and Gaia has ran smoothly on this same computer since I got the computer about 2 years ago. Only when the event appeared, it seemed to have glitched or something.

The shopkeepers don't say anything, either. I click on any shop, even the cash shop, and it's blank white where the items should be, and no greeting is said. When I click on my avatar to change it, if I click on anything that would change the appearance, the avatar preview would disappear and never load up or come back. If other information is needed, and I can provide it, I will gladly give it to you. Thank you in advance!

Could you please contact customer service, they might help you on this issue.
