How to report a Bug

First thing to do when a member contact you regarding a possible bug:

1. Check an announcement!
If user experience a problem during some new project push it is probably
temporary and will be resolved after push is completed.

2. Can you reproduce the problem?

To make sure the problem is real:
Clean up the cash and cookie
Log out and log in back
Is it still reproducible?
If it is reproducible, please provide the following information:

OS: Mac? Win? WinXP?
Browser: IE6? IE7? FF? Safari? Opera?
Version: FF 2.0.5? FF 3? IE7 sp 2?
Brief description of the problem

REPORTING A BUG

Provide detailed and useful information when reporting!
The purpose of reporting a bug is so that later on a Developer will have enough information to reproduce the problem and resolve it. Reports made that do not provide useful information and are vague with no detail will be deleted.

Be descriptive in your title
Don't just put "Bug" in your title. For example, if something like Cinemas isn't poping up, put "Gaia Cinemas isn't popping up Bug."

Here's an example of how to write a bug:


Computer Specs:
Windows Vista Home Edition
Internet Explorer 7.0.6000.16609
Flash 9.0.115.0

Location:
Slots (Upper right hand corner of game)

Bug:
Playing winnings button does not work when you have over 10 winnings awarded

Reproduction:
1) Go to www.gaiaonline.com/
2) Log in as a user: user name and password
3) Go to the web page www.gaiaonline.com/games
4) Click on Slots
5) Pick any available room
6) Click on the Join button
7) Click on the Play Token button
cool Click on the Spin button
9) Repeat steps 7-8 until you have at least 10 winnings awarded

*Current winnings will display the number 10, right below Tickets and Tokens on the left center side

10) Click on the Play Winnings button

Result:
The button will not work. The current winnings do not decrement (decrease). The spin button does not work since no winnings or tokens are used.

Notes:
Any useful information goes here, such as how often this occurred.

If you notice for the above bug, it is very detailed and concise. If you were to go through the reproduction steps, you should be able to reproduce the bug, or if it is uncommon, occasionally reproduce the bug. smile

Notice how everything is vague? If you were to try to go through the steps again, you would not have a clue where to start. Try to be as detailed as you can by giving any information such as: computer information and what you were doing before, if you used any power ups, etc. This way we can narrow down the possibilities.

My aquarium is inaccessible from the Aquarium page (http://www.gaiaonline.com/aquarium/)

Steps to reproduce:

Cleared cache,
logged out of Gaia,
closed down and restarted browser,
logged in again,
opened Aquarium page.
Still nothing.
It's been inaccessible for three days!

Version: I don't know where to look for this.

Description:
When I go to the shops home page and click on the daily reward and I get the daily chance where I click on the button and am supposed to receive a random item or gold I get this message:

Permission Error
There was a problem granting your request. Please try again.

I try again and the same thing happens until i decide to quit. This has been happening for a while. I waited to see if there was going to be an announcement on it but there hasn't been. I believe it is just my account my sister has no problem with hers, but she she uses her own laptop like I do.
Because she doesn't have this problem I don't think it is reproducible for others.

Steps I took:
Cleared everything
logged out
closed the browser and reopened it
logged in again
opened the shops home page
tried daily reward (which usually is no longer there)
same problem
When I try to access the alchemy page and make an item it is alchemy process fail, no picture nothing else but that, it doesnt take the gold for making it either

Could you please provide the exact steps to reproduce this issue.

Location:
Transition from Resort World to My Gaia page

Bug:
After playing game, I click on the My Gaia tab and it takes me to a log in page, when I didn't log out

Reproduction:
1) Go to www.gaiaonline.com/
2) Log in as a user: user name and password
3) Go to the web page www.gaiaonline.com/games
4) Click on Resort World
5) Game uploads, I play
6) Click on My Gaia
7) I am apparently logged out because a log in page appears

Notes:
This occurs everytime I play Resort World and switch back to My Gaia probably for the past week now.

This one is for GAIA TOWNS

Chat is not an option.
The Town window shows, I can see players and convos but there is no chat box option or bug/flowers collection option to put in inventory.

Hi, There's option for chat and inventory collection from towns:

World --> Towns --> Directory --> Enter towns. You can see chat at the left corner and Inventory at the right (Click on Items bag)

When exchanging a rare bug for ink in the Durem Depot Bug Exchange the following error is recieved:

Quote:
Database Error
Unable to retreive item exchange data


Steps to reproduce;
1. Go to Durem Depot > Exchange bugs
2. Click on any exchange button that occurs under the "Special Offers" heading
Error appears.

This has been occuring since at least as far back as December 2011.
I have used both laptop and smartphone with various browsers to attempt the exchange and none have worked.
PS. Note that retrieve is spelt wrong, i before e.

Shops:Earn Gaia Cash
Peanut Labs - videos

Problem: Have watched a lot of videos with 5gc but not getting the cash after watching even for allowing a 15 minute delay.
Have logged system off rebooted. This has been happening for 3 days. All other offers for videos work except on the peanut labs.

Tried again recently
Logged on to shops-earn Gaia cash
Clicked on Peanut Labs
Watched video in its entirety
No pm - no GC awarded
Waited in case of 15 minute delay and still no GC awarded.
