How to report a Bug

First thing to do when a member contact you regarding a possible bug:

1. Check an announcement!
If user experience a problem during some new project push it is probably
temporary and will be resolved after push is completed.

2. Can you reproduce the problem?

To make sure the problem is real:
Clean up the cache and cookie
Log out and log in back
Is it still reproducible?
If it is reproducible, please provide the following information:

OS: Mac? Win? WinXP?
Browser: IE6? IE7? FF? Safari? Opera?
Version: FF 2.0.5? FF 3? IE7 sp 2?
Brief description of the problem

REPORTING A BUG

Provide detailed and useful information when reporting!
The purpose of reporting a bug is so that later on a Developer will have enough information to reproduce the problem and resolve it. Reports made that do not provide useful information and are vague with no detail will be deleted.

Be descriptive in your title
Don't just put "Bug" in your title. For example, if something like Cinemas isn't poping up, put "Gaia Cinemas isn't popping up Bug."

Here's an example of how to write a bug:


Computer Specs:
Windows Vista Home Edition
Internet Explorer 7.0.6000.16609
Flash 9.0.115.0

Location:
Slots (Upper right hand corner of game)

Bug:
Playing winnings button does not work when you have over 10 winnings awarded

Reproduction:
1) Go to www.gaiaonline.com/
2) Log in as a user: user name and password
3) Go to the web page www.gaiaonline.com/games
4) Click on Slots
5) Pick any available room
6) Click on the Join button
7) Click on the Play Token button
cool Click on the Spin button
9) Repeat steps 7-8 until you have at least 10 winnings awarded

*Current winnings will display the number 10, right below Tickets and Tokens on the left center side

10) Click on the Play Winnings button

Result:
The button will not work. The current winnings do not decrement (decrease). The spin button does not work since no winnings or tokens are used.

Notes:
Any useful information goes here, such as how often this occurred.

If you notice for the above bug, it is very detailed and concise. If you were to go through the reproduction steps, you should be able to reproduce the bug, or if it is uncommon, occasionally reproduce the bug. smile


How NOT to write a bug:

Notice how everything is vague? If you were to try to go through the steps again, you would not have a clue where to start. Try to be as detailed as you can by giving any information such as: computer information and what you were doing before, if you used any power ups, etc. This way we can narrow down the possibilities.

Brief description of the problem
steps to reproduce:

2. Click "marketplace" and a glittering pink thingy appears in the upper left.
3. Clicking it, it forwards me to ORLY Hat auction page. URL: http://www.gaiaonline.com/marketplace/itemdetail/10749/
4.After that glittering in the upper left disappears.

Check, could not find anything similar.

Short description of the problem: my meebo will show like normal and i can see messages i receive but i can not respond, it will not show when i send but it does make a noise, when i do respond it does not go through the reciprocant never gets my message, also i cant see who is online and i cant start a conversation.


Browser: google chrome
Operation system: windows 7


Step 1- Log onto www.gaiaonline.com

Step 2- look at meebo

Step 3- try to see who is online

Step 4- try to send a message

Step 5- try to respond

Suppose to Result: you can see who is online, you can sent messages, you can respond


Act result: i cant do any of that, i cant respond, see who is online or send new messages

Thanks for letting us know about this issue.
I'm able to use the Meebo bar on Google Chrome/Windows 7.
Have you tried any of the following?
1. Clearing your cache/cookies
2. Turning the footer off then turning it back on?
Go to Account Settings --> Footer Display --> No Footer --> Save --> footer(Yes)-->Save
3. Logging out and logging back in.
Are you using an ad-blocker?

Brief description of the problem
steps to reproduce:

1. Log in, or when ever,
2. Click "earn cash avi" and go thru any selections of videos i wanna watch.
3. go thru all of then and then watch any 160 penn episodes to the end
4.try clicking any reandom space to try and like it on fb and nothing works and using 4 cputers with very different peramiters and still nothing from windows 7- mac-redhat and still nothing works even after signing in facebook and searching for it and likeing it.... lost over 160 cash so far...

yeah, i tried the offer for the tv trivia thing... for 200 Gcash. it said to join and play 2 games... which i did. and it didnt give me the cash,

Short description of the problem: The counter on my "Streaker" achievement reset earlier in the week. It looks like it occurred around Monday-Wednesday, but I have been on Gaia each of those days as evidenced by the time/date stamps on my posts in forums and the comments section of my aquarium.


Browser: Chrome, Version 23.0.1271.97 m
Operation system: Windows 7 Home Premium


Step 1- Log onto www.gaiaonline.com

Step 2- Go to the web page www.gaiaonline.com/achievements/

Step 3- Click on icon for "Streaker" achievement under "Available Achievements" section.

Step 4- See that it now says "Progress: 3 / 30."

Suppose to Result: I should either have already earned the "Streaker" achievement, or I should be further along in my progress on the achievement's counter.


Act result: My "Loiterer" achievement states that it was earned 51 days ago. I cannot recall a day since I earned that achievement that I have not logged onto Gaia. As such, it appears that the "Streaker" counter has reset more than once. I do know that I did not miss a day this week when the counter appears to have been reset.

Short description of the problem: In my guild (Guild) It shows on the front page that we have over 4 billion members (although we only have 26) and it's keeping us from being able to send Guild Announcements due to insufficient funds, cause for obvious reasons we don't have enough for 4 billion members

Browser: Mozilla Firefox
Operation system: Windows 7 Premium

Step 2- Go to my guild (Guild)

Step 3- See that it shows over 4 billion members

Step 4- try to send a guild announcement

Step 5- Unable to do so for lack of funds

Act result: It's not working properly.

Note: I know it's not just my computer cause several members of my guild also saw it, and I messaged a gaia moderator about it and she said she was also able to see it

Hi again,

To file a help ticket, just take the following steps:Go to the "Contact Us" link at the bottom of any Gaia page and click it.

This will open up the Contact Us page where you'll be able to access the Gaia ticketing system. Once on the Contact Us page, scroll down until you see the section that says "Still can't find your answer? Click here to contact customer support. Click on the "Click here" link and it will take you to the ticketing system. Fill out all the required fields and then submit your ticket.
