How to report a Bug

First thing to do when a member contact you regarding a possible bug:

1. Check an announcement!
If user experience a problem during some new project push it is probably
temporary and will be resolved after push is completed.

2. Can you reproduce the problem?

To make sure the problem is real:
Clean up the cache and cookie
Log out and log in back
Is it still reproducible?
If it is reproducible, please provide the following information:

OS: Mac? Win? WinXP?
Browser: IE6? IE7? FF? Safari? Opera?
Version: FF 2.0.5? FF 3? IE7 sp 2?
Brief description of the problem
steps to reproduce:

REPORTING A BUG

Provide detailed and useful information when reporting!
The purpose of reporting a bug is so that later on a Developer will have enough information to reproduce the problem and resolve it. Reports made that do not provide useful information and are vague with no detail will be deleted.

Be descriptive in your title
Don't just put "Bug" in your title. For example, if something like Cinemas isn't poping up, put "Gaia Cinemas isn't popping up Bug."

Here's an example of how to write a bug:


Computer Specs:
Windows Vista Home Edition

Slots (Upper right hand corner of game)

Bug:
Playing winnings button does not work when you have over 10 winnings awarded

Reproduction:
1) Go to www.gaiaonline.com/
2) Log in as a user: user name and password
3) Go to the web page www.gaiaonline.com/games
4) Click on Slots
5) Pick any available room
6) Click on the Join button
7) Click on the Play Token button
cool Click on the Spin button
9) Repeat steps 7-8 until you have at least 10 winnings awarded

*Current winnings will display the number 10, right below Tickets and Tokens on the left center side

10) Click on the Play Winnings button

Result:
The button will not work. The current winnings do not decrement (decrease). The spin button does not work since no winnings or tokens are used.

Notes:
Any useful information goes here, such as how often this occurred.

If you notice for the above bug, it is very detailed and concise. If you were to go through the reproduction steps, you should be able to reproduce the bug, or if it is uncommon, occasionally reproduce the bug. smile


How NOT to write a bug:

Notice how everything is vague? If you were to try to go through the steps again, you would not have a clue where to start. Try to be as detailed as you can by giving any information such as: computer information and what you were doing before, if you used any power ups, etc. This way we can narrow down the possibilities.

Bug: Items not selling back through the old inventory arranger.

Reproduction:
1.) Go to www.gaiaonline.com/
2.) Log in as a user: username and password
3.) Go to the webpage www.gaiaonline.com/inventory2/arranger
4.) Highlight an item by clicking on it.
5.) Click "Sell Item" button at the top of the arranger.
6.) Click on "Sell Item" button when the pop up opens.

Result:
Some items get stuck on the "processing" portion of the item being sold. For example, some of the items are the Feline, GBI, house Christmas Trees, and other items along those lines. They tend to be items that have a sellback but not a sellback button in their menu when clicking on them in the normal inventory page. Members used to be able to sell these "non-sellable items" through the old inventory page and during the past week, this glitch has come up and has yet to be fixed.

Operating System - Windows XP

Browsers - Chrome/23.0.1271.95
Pale Moon 5.0

Notes:
I've cleared my cache and cookies on both browsers to see if that would help and it hasn't. I've also had this problem on this account and my mule account. I've even tried restarting my internet to see if that would help and it hasn't.

Bug:
when selling viking love it says item sellback in progress

Reproduction:
1) Go to www.gaiaonline.com/
2) Log in as a user: user name and password
3) Go to the web page http://www.gaiaonline.com/mygaia/
4) Click on Avatar
5) Click fulll inventory
6) Click organize inventory
7) Click Avatar or scroll down and select viking love
9) Click sell item
10) "Preparing sale..." in display loading then a menu then click "sell item"
11) "Item sellback in progress..." in display

Result:
"Item sellback in progress..." is still in display more than 10secs until now while I am writing this.

Notes:
The difference on the top report mine is only specific on one item
I tested this on my other accounts and it is the same nothing changed. when using mozilla The Really X4 old invo arranger wont load.

So if there was a fixed regarding the item sellback being disabled, sorry I couldnt search it on the search bar about the info. pls pm me if the sellback of the item viking love was actually disabled.tyvm

Reproduction:

3) Go to the web page http://www.gaiaonline.com/avatar/
4) Click on Cutie Cowgirl Item
5) Choose Star Badge Pose

Results:
Previously, when one equipped this pose it would get rid of the gray Female Bra the avi has as a default. Now not only does it not remove the Female Bra, it also puts the Female Bra back on if you equip other items that removes the Female Bra (ex. Secret Retreat Beau's Vest).

Notes:
It's the same in the Marketplace.

I am not sure if we are allowed to quote for the exact same problem, but I also cannot "sell back" Christmas Trees. I'm also using Chrome, but my Operating System is Windows 7. I apologize if I followed an incorrect procedure.

Topic Names: True Believers not letting me quest (Old Aquaduct)
The Bug:
At 1:30 Am on 12/09/12 I was in the Old Aquaduct trying to talk to Roderick, but when I talk to him he tells me to change my level to 6.1 or below, and so I did.

Unfortunately, I was unable to play regardless. The same response repeated over and over:

"To access the True Believers' task, you need to change your level to 6.1 or lower."
"Use the 'CHANGE LEVEL' option in the MENU to lower your level."

Step 2- Buy and wear Prince Dhanun (robes)

Step 3- Buy and wear ANY weapon.

Step 4- Wear the weapon in the hand closest to you, and look at how the weapon is under the robe.User Image <- This pose.

Step 5- Take off weapon.

Step 6 - Notice how the hand also goes under the robes.

Suppose to Result: The weapon and hand is supposed to go over the robes.


Act result: The weapon and hand goes under the robes, making it very awkward.


It's not exactly all that big... And thank you for taking your time to read this.
I'm having issues with my profile, every time I save changes to it, the changes aren't saving. I don't mess with the profile coding so I know it's a problem with the saving option itself.

1. Go to profile edit
2. Remove a few things
3. Save Changes
Result. Nothing is changed, save way it was before you changed it.

Short description of the problem: I can only send one PM per day, it seems. if I try to send another it will keep saying "can't send another message so soon" no matter how much time has elapsed between the sent messages. even though the warning is normal, it doesn't work again after a few minutes like it should.


Browser: Firefox.
Operation system: Windows.


Step 1- Log onto www.gaianline.com

Step 2- Sign In on the welcome page.

Step 3- click either the header Mail Icon or the Meebo Messages button to go to your Inbox.

Step 4- open any private message.

Step 5- hit the reply button.

Step 6- write your message and press the send button.

Suppose to Result: if you havn't sent any PMs in a few minutes it should just bring you to a "message sent successfully" page and then redirect you back to your inbox. it is only supposed to tell you that you can't send messages so fast if you had just sent one emmediately prior to sending this one.


Act result: instead, the first message sends without a problem, but any subsequent ones (regardless of how long I wait to send them) still won't send. they give me the "you can't send a message so soon" page.
