How to report a Bug

First thing to do when a member contact you regarding a possible bug:

1. Check an announcement!
If user experience a problem during some new project push it is probably
temporary and will be resolved after push is completed.

2. Can you reproduce the problem?

To make sure the problem is real:
Clean up the cash and cookie
Log out and log in back
Is it still reproducible?
If it is reproducible, please provide the following information:

OS: Mac? Win? WinXP?
Browser: IE6? IE7? FF? Safari? Opera?
Version: FF 2.0.5? FF 3? IE7 sp 2?
Brief description of the problem

REPORTING A BUG

Provide detailed and useful information when reporting!
The purpose of reporting a bug is so that later on a Developer will have enough information to reproduce the problem and resolve it. Reports made that do not provide useful information and are vague with no detail will be deleted.

Be descriptive in your title
Don't just put "Bug" in your title. For example, if something like Cinemas isn't poping up, put "Gaia Cinemas isn't popping up Bug."

Here's an example of how to write a bug:


Computer Specs:
Windows Vista Home Edition
Internet Explorer 7.0.6000.16609

Location:
Slots (Upper right hand corner of game)

Bug:
Playing winnings button does not work when you have over 10 winnings awarded

Reproduction:
1) Go to www.gaiaonline.com/
2) Log in as a user: user name and password
3) Go to the web page www.gaiaonline.com/games
4) Click on Slots
5) Pick any available room
6) Click on the Join button
7) Click on the Play Token button
cool Click on the Spin button
9) Repeat steps 7-8 until you have at least 10 winnings awarded

*Current winnings will display the number 10, right below Tickets and Tokens on the left center side

10) Click on the Play Winnings button

Result:
The button will not work. The current winnings do not decrement (decrease). The spin button does not work since no winnings or tokens are used.

Notes:
Any useful information goes here, such as how often this occurred.

If you notice for the above bug, it is very detailed and concise. If you were to go through the reproduction steps, you should be able to reproduce the bug, or if it is uncommon, occasionally reproduce the bug. smile

Notice how everything is vague? If you were to try to go through the steps again, you would not have a clue where to start. Try to be as detailed as you can by giving any information such as: computer information and what you were doing before, if you used any power ups, etc. This way we can narrow down the possibilities.

Bug:
Gingerbread fish will not glow & I also just discovered it does not glow in MP when you go to view it in the tank.

Reproduction:
I tried placing the Gifted gingerbread fish in my tank and it would not show even though it said it was in my tank.
If I leave it in there it messes up my Tank Analyzer. So this is like a 'NO WIN' issue for me.

Comments:
I also recently discovered from a friend she had a similiar problem with the reindeer fish not showing up. Is this something that can be fixed so that I can enjoy the gift that was purchased for me?

This is my 3rd attempt at trying to get some kind of reply. Any reply, more so a solution. When someone or you spend 1.3 k (mp) on a fish you'd like to have it work. I purchase Gaia GC quite frequently but I'm seriously considering stopping this as I seem to get no recognition or answers when I do run into problems on here especially when there appears to be 1 out of 2 solutions.

** If it's not an easy fix or cannot be fixed could I at least be reimbursed that gold so I can purchase other fish?

Bug: Avatar does not turn around in Salon

Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium
Browser: Google Chrome
Version: 16.0.912.75 (latest)

Steps:
1.
Go to Salon Durem
2. Select a hairstyle
3. Click the "Front/Back View" button
Suppose to Result: The avatar turns around, allowing a back preview
Act Result: Avatar does not turn around

Computer Specs: don't know too much so I will give you the best I know. I have a Dell laptop that has a sticker saying Windows 7 on it. I use Google Chrome as my browser.

Location: My Inventory

Bug: I bought an item from the Gaia Cash Shop and it is not appearing in my "Special" items section (or any section) of my inventory. I know I bought it because my Gaia Cash went from 246 to 97 so the item is paid for.

Reproduction: Waited to see if the information wasn't sent, logged off for a half an hour, logged on again, went to the inventory and saw that the item still wasn't there. Logged off and tried to see if friends had the same problem. It worked perfectly for them but not for me. I will log off one more time and see if that helps but I am doubtful

Comments: I would like to know that my Gaia Cash wasn't evaporated T-T


I'm not able to reproduce it. Could you please let me know the item that you purchased.

Bug:
quick change option on the meebo bar , after you change your outfit using that if you go to towns your avi randomly moves from sitting down moving 360 degrees ((full circle)) randomly on its own

Could please provide exact steps to reproduce this issue.

Short description of the problem: Unable to save avatar. When I attempt to change anything (sit/stand position, clothes, or even when I bought Girl's Swish Red (Lite) and Kirei Eyes Green from Salon Durem) it gives me the following error message:
"Data Validation Error
The item was not found in your inventory."
The error occured before I bought anything, and it hasn't affected anything other than by ability to save.


Browser: Google Chrome (16.0.912.75) and Internet Explorer (8.0.7601.17514)
Operation system: Windows 7 Ultimate


Step 1- Log onto www.gaiaonline.com

Step 2- Go to Customize Avatar page

Step 3- Make changes to avatar, click on items to equip them, etc.

Step 4- Save avatar.

Suppose to Result:
Avatar saved successfully, changes show up on avatar in top left display and in the forums, Towns, etc.

Act result:
"Data Validation Error
The item was not found in your inventory."
and the items don't show up. They don't disappear from my inventory, everything is fine as far as I am aware other than that, but I can't actually equip anything or change my position/facial expression, etc.

Thank you in advanced for your time.

I tried to equip Girl's Swish Red and change (sit/stand position, clothes) it works fine, did not get any data validation error on Windows 7

Please check if you're able to reproduce it again and send a screenshot.

Thanks for reporting, this is a known bug.
I suspected as much. It's an old bug, as I recall.

Another one:
Bug: Forum post tools disappear in Journals

Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium
Browser: Google Chrome

Steps:

Make a new Journal entry
2. Type whatever
3. Click "Preview"
Suppose to Result: The Journal Preview shows up above the post window, without removing the post tools.
Act Result: Journal Preview shows up above the post window, but all the tools disappear; screencap

I've been getting account notises for a year now, this account most of all, I've even changed mail, I tried to remove the block, several times, nothing helps. so just stop sending them , I don't even care if i cant get gaia mail! And the contact us page sucks!

This bug happens on both moxila firefox + adblock, & safari with no adblcok or add ons.

On Windows XP with moxilla firefox and adblock, the video loads extremely slowly, but it works. this seems to be an apple thing.

On Windows XP with moxilla firefox+adblock, the "next video" link does not appear.

This bug happens on safari.
On Windows XP I save my avatar and it duplicated some items. It let me sell the other items, move them around, and etc, but the items that were equiped at the time are frozen and will not un-freeze. I also noticed that during the process, I lost 3 very expensive items and can not find them.
I can equip one or two items that are frozen, and save them, but when I save my avatar, it says "Data Error: serial is not in owners location." The first time it did this, it took away the items and duplicated 5. I also logged off and logged back in and nothing has changed.

Could please provide the exact steps to reproduce. I'm not sure what exactly you're trying to do, you can't sell the items that are equipped.

Bug: Unable to access quick links footer bar.

Operating System: Windows Vista

Browser: Mozilla Firefox 9.0.1 (Latest)

Steps: Get Firefox 9.0.1 and try using the footer. It doesn't work.

This has been a problem for at least two weeks now, I created a topic of plenty of people with the same issue here.


Go to Mygaia -> Account settings,scroll down to Footer Display and Choose Yes. You will see the footer.

Okay i never done this before and idk if it's a bug xD...

Computer Specs: I have a MSI CR720, laptop. I always use Google Crome.

Bug: I have this black hair.. When i put a hat on it really looks weird. Idk if this is a problem,
but i think it is... it's nothing serious. Can it be fixed? or does everyone have that?

1. I got to inventory.
2. I put a hat on. (it doesn't matter wich one)
3. It looks like parts of my avi's hair disappears.

I hope i this was enough... sweatdrop

Bug: Can't exchange rare bugs for inks.




Operating System: Linux; Ubuntu

Steps: Try to exchange rare bugs in Moria's shop and that error pops up

I've tried this on two different accounts with two different rare bugs that I bought from the marketplace and every single time this message pops up: Database Error
Unable to retrieve item exchange data

Please help!
