Buying/Selling GGN Guilds

Selling Guidelines [Selling]
  • Only the Guild Captain should be making a Selling thread.
This ensures that the thread is legitimate, that the user making the thread has the right to sell it, and helps prevent scams. If a thread to sell a guild is made by a user other than the Captain of the guild being sold, it will be recycled.

  • Include a link to the guild being sold.
If there is no link to the guild being sold, the thread will be recycled.

  • Include at least a brief statement as to why the guild is being sold and/or other guild information.
If your thread does not contain anything aside from a link to the guild being advertised, it might be treated as spam and sent to the Chatterbox forum.

Buying Guidelines [Buying]
  • Include requirements for what you're buying.
If you want to pay a certain amount, want a guild that already has members, one that doesn't have members, a guild that already has some donations in the coffer, etc. All these things should be listed in the thread so that sellers know what you are looking for. If you have no requirements, then you should simply look at the selling threads for guilds being sold. Buying threads which do not list any requirements will be recycled.

"Tips & Suggestions for both Buyers and Sellers"
These are not required, but you will find them helpful and beneficial.
  • Make your agreement on the sale of the guild IN the buying or selling thread. This helps protect both the buyer and the seller in case of one or the other attempting to scam.
  • For extra security, you can also quote one another in the thread so that a record exists even if the posts are edited.
  • If changes to the guild sale are made outside of the thread, save the PM's or screenshot them. Again, this helps protect both the buyer and seller from scams.
  • The more informative your buying or selling post is, the more likely you are to get a response of the type that you want. If you're selling, try to list as much information about the guild as possible. If you're buying and want something specific, make sure to list those specific requirements.
  • For sellers: You'll make your guild more deisirable to a buyer and make less enemies if you prepare your guild ahead of time for being sold. Ie: Let your guild members know, so that those who wish to can leave the guild, delete threads that won't be needed, etc.
  • For buyers: It's a good idea to follow the link provided and look at what's currently in the guild before you decide to buy it.

Advertising/Recruiting Members

Advertising Guidelines [Ad]
  • An Ad for your guild must contain a link to your guild outside of your signature.
This ensures that those viewing it will be able to find their way easily to what you advertising.

  • An Ad in this forum must have more than just a link to your GGN guild.
There should be at least a couple of brief sentences about your guild and why you are advertising. If your ad is nothing more than a link to your GGN guild, it will be moved to the chatterbox.

Recruiting Members [Recruiting]
  • Recruitment threads will be treated like Ad threads.
The only real reason for advertising is to get new members anyways, isn't it? You can though, put [recruiting] at the beginning of your subject line instead of [Ad] if you wish to make a distinction.

"Tips/Suggestions"
These are not required, just suggestions and tips.
  • Include the name of your guild and what it is about.
  • Include a brief statement on why you are looking for more members and what these members would do in your guild. If you want someone to do something specific, be sure to list that.
  • Information about your current members and what they do within the guild is probably of interest to those thinking of joining as well.

GGN Discussion

"Some suggestions for things that might be discussed"
  • Planning and discussing interaction between guilds.
  • Asking for suggestions or opinions about something in your guild.
  • Discussions about how to run a guild.
  • Discussions about guild themes and topics
At this time, these are merely examples, and other possible discussions dealing with GGN guilds are not disallowed. These guidelines may be revised in the future as needed.

Good Discussion Habits:
  • Be civil.
Even if you don't agree with what someone is saying, don't resort to abusive speech.
  • Respect the wishes of the thread creator.
If someone asks you to leave their thread, do so. Keep your comments on topic for the discussion that was started and don't derail the thread by going off on a tangent.
  • Read the first post thoroughly.
Don't assume you know what the discussion is about based soley on the title of a thread. Be sure to read the entire first post so that you're making intelligent comments and don't misunderstand the purpose of the thread.

Bad Discussion Habits:
  • Abusive Language
Insulting others or using excessive swearing and vulgarity may result in your post or thread being removed. Remember, if someone is abusive towards you, Report it, do not do the same in return. This will only lead to more trouble.
  • Trolling
The act of creating a post or a thread that is made to get a particular group of individuals angry or sad. This is a serious offense on Gaia, and will be dealt with appropriately.
  • Over PG-13 Material
Effort should be made to keep everything in your threads and guilds to a PG13 level. When doing a Roleplay with Violence, for example, please keep descriptions toned down.
  • Hotlinking
Hotlinking is the act of going to a website, and directly linking to one of their images. An example is if someone from Gaia used the Image URL from google.com's Google image and posted it on Gaia. When you want to use an image from another website, please save the picture to your computer and upload it to an imagehost, such as Imageshack or Photobucket
  • Spam
Spamming is making a post in a thread that is unwelcome, or has no merit to the topic at hand in the thread. Spamming is also making a thread that is for nothing but bumping, gaining gold, etc. Spamming is allowed only in the Chatterbox forum.
  • Hate Threads/Guilds
Hate threads are threads or guilds that are created in order to show hate towards another person, race, religion, etc. These are seen as Trolling and will be dealt with as such.

If you are a victim of any of the above, or see it happening, please use the or buttons, so the moderators are aware of it and can deal with it.

Registered Guilds Forum Guidelines

This forum is for advertising, discussing, buying, and selling GGN Guilds.

Some basic information as to what GGN guilds are as well as how to get them, and what you can do with them can be found in the Gaia Guilds Network FAQ. Please check there before creating a question thread in this forum. If you make a question thread on something covered by the FAQ, your thread may be recycled.

If you're experiencing an error or glitch within the Gaia Guild Network, please report that in the Questions and Assistance forum. If you make a thread about an error or glitch here, it will likely be moved to Q&A.

"Contents of this thread"
  • Post 1: Basic Forum Guidelines
  • Post 2: GGN Discussion
  • Post 3: Advertising/Recruiting
  • Post 4: Buying/Selling

Basic Forum Guidelines
  • Please don't make actual Guild threads here.
This forum is for threads -about- Guilds registered in the GGN If you want to create a registered guild, check the GGN FAQ for how to do so. To create an Unregistered Guild, please visit the Guild Forums

  • If you are looking for a guild to join, try reading the Guild Categories section of the GGN FAQ for information on how to find a guild to join.
If you're looking for something specific and aren't able to find it by using keyword and category searches in the GGN Registry then you can make a thread in this forum asking other users. If your thread does not list the specific requirements that you are seeking in a guild, it may be recycled.

  • Please don't make multiple buying/selling/advertising threads.
If you have trouble with losing track of threads you create, subscribe to it or bookmark it so that you can find it again. For selling and advertising threads, coordinate with your other guild members to be sure that multiple users are not creating threads for the same guild. If multiple threads for the same purpose are found, the extras may be sent to the chatterbox forum.

  • Threads should not be bumped more frequently than once every couple of hours.
If your thread is bumped excessively then it may be moved to the chatterbox forum. Posts which do not discuss anything, answer any questions, or add any information to what is in the first post will be considered bumps.

  • Please label your Ad/Recruitment/Buying/Selling threads.
This makes your ad threads more easily findable for those who are looking for guilds to join/buy/sell, and more easily avoidable for those who are looking for GGN discussion and would be annoyed to click and find yet another ad/buying/selling thread. Just place [Ad] [Recruiting] [Buying] or [Selling] at the beginning of your thread's subject line.
