I think of Christ and him being born and us being happy for his birth. I also think time with family and being around those that I love. I think about being out of school and not having a lot of work and also of course presents. It is sad but true.

i think everyone has gotten the wrong idea about christmas....its supposed to be about chirsts birth not presents its a great time for family but i want people to remember the real reason we celebrate...now hehe ive given my shpeal what do you think???????
Jesus wasn't born on Christmas...

Personally, I keep religion out. Ive enjoyed Christmas in my own way. And yes, Ive angered plenty of Catholics and Christians and other religious followers because I prefer to celebrate Christmas my own way.

Ive always respected other's views on the celebration of it, and never have I cast an ill wish against them. But, they have never done the same for me where I choose NOT to have religion in my life.

Christmas growing up as a kid (I am 33yrs old), Christmas meant, Winter Time.. fun in the snow, helping my grandparents shovel the snow so they could get in and out of their home, fresh hot chocolate after shoveling, enjoying making Crafts by the fireplace with my grandparents who raised me, decorating the tree inside AND outside, making a snow-man, seeing my cousins (all 35 of them), my aunts and uncles, our long time friends across the street, the fun projects in school back when saying "Christmas" wasnt taken offensively by anyone, enjoying a fresh hot cooked meal on Christmas Day, enjoying presents under the tree, enjoy watching Grandma turn blushing red when Grandpa kissed her under the mistletoe, seeing the local Police and Fire Department give the neighborhood kids a ride on the fire truck down to town-hall to enjoy the local town festivities. Chief of Police used to dress up as Santa Claus, his wife as Mrs Claus sitting in a rocking chair reading stories to us kids, while all the Moms and Dads would be dancing to classic Bing Crosby Christmas music.

Back then, we had 15 days of school OFF for Christmas vacation.

Christmas is what you decide to make of it, regardless if you are religious or not, and without the harsh opinions of others trying to impede on your happiness.

I enjoy giving presents out. I do alot of fresh baking... cookies, cakes, pastries, pies, scones, breads.. and I make individual baskets and give them out to all my families and best friends. I play "Santa Claus" by mail for my childhood friend's 6 yr old son by sending him a Card with a stylish letter, a gift certificate to an Arts and Crafts store. I enjoy spending all day long cooking and prepping the Christmas dinner and inviting over as many people as possible. We do "Secret Santa".

My current job ALLOWS all displays of Christmas regardless of nationality and religion. They sent a memo saying "Please be sensitive and TOLERANT and recognize that everyone has a right to enjoy this holiday, no matter what their beliefs are and to not pass judgement on someone who chooses to enjoy it different than yours"...

No matter what, Christmas does not necessarily have a definition that is 'in gold'. Its what you make of it. There is nothing wrong with receiving presents, so long as you give as well. Its good to be thought of, and also to think of others as well.

todays "Christian" society is nothing but people that regard themselves as "moral"--they aren't Christians and hate being held accountable for their actions
and to all the people who won't allow schools and post offices and public places to put up "Merry Christmas" signs and trees because they "offend" people and it "forces" them to participate in Christianity------i can guarantee you that all of those people complaining are getting presents and decorate their houses for Christmas-----its a holiday because its a day that is significant to a majority of people----if you feel "offended" by it then you can give up your presents and your tree and have Santa Clause Day on December 26th

and of course he wasn't born on Christmas---so who cares!!!!!!!!!! its just a day to formally celebrate!!!!!!! with all the things you take for granted which God gave you: family, friends, and prosperity in which you are able to afford presents you won't ever touch again after New Years.

Actually, I don't like hearing and seeing Merry Christmas everywhere. I didn't mind it before when Christmas able to just be a secular holiday, but then mangers started popping up everywhere, in most local buisnesses, including inside my local Wal-Mart, and overtly Christian songs were being played 24/7. Then it started getting annoying. I attribute this to the backlash next year and the year after where people said Happy Holidays instead of Merry Christmas, which was fine by me. Last year there was another backlash from Christians going on about how we're trying to "kill Christmas." The fact that all the local stores went along with them and started playing "Silent Night", "O'Come Emanuel", "Mary Did You Know" and other overtly Christian Christmas songs really pissed me off. Just let it be a freaking secular holiday! Just let me go to stores, look at presents and enjoy the thoughts of my friend's faces when they get their gifts without constantly hearing about the little baby Jesus, or how wonderful God is every 5 minutes. All my issues with Christmas come from the fact that Christians just won't back off about it. All of this "Take back Christmas" and "The true meaning of Christmas" is a bunch of BS. to begin with. Just let the holiday be the secular holiday it's supposed to be and leave me alone. Please!

Personally I just wish Christians would celebrate Christmas their way and let everyone else celebrate the national holiday in their own way. Case in point, I'm hosting a "Halloween on Christmas" party this year. I will be decked out as a werewolf in a black santa suit. It shall be a blast.

PS. Also, I don't like hearing "Merry Christmas" because I'm already hearing Christmas music in stores and I've been seeing Christmas trees since before Halloween. By the time we get to December I'm going to be so sick of Chrismas I'll want to choke those street corner Santas constantly saying "Ho ho ho. Merry Christmas!"

You sort of have to wonder about why those christians were in the stores and malls long enough to know what all music is being played.

Maybe they should take their money out of the commercialism and prove their economic power.

Religious people can thing of Christmas the way they want. And other people can think of it the way they want.

Personally I am not religious and I don't celebrate Xmas as christ's birth or whatever. I just celebrate the presents and the familyness and all that stuff.
