Welcome to Gaia! ::

Halloween is the second most commercialized "holiday" next to Christmas.
The history channel can be fun sometimes... sweatdrop

Christmas to me = *Pretend to be a christian*
I'm celebrating the winter time, and then waiting a new year to begin.
That's when I'm going to party until I pass out.
It's nice I get vacation during this "christmas", but it doesn't mean much to me. Sometimes it's rather annoying.

i think everyone has gotten the wrong idea about christmas....its supposed to be about chirsts birth not presents its a great time for family but i want people to remember the real reason we celebrate...now hehe ive given my shpeal what do you think???????
Considering that Christ's Birth actually happened sometime around August, and that Christmas as we celebrate it was originally the Winter Solstice, I think it's fine the way it is now.

A lot of pagan beliefs were absorbed into the Christmas holiday in an attempt to gain more followers.

I think it's all commercial/capitalist. At least thats how it feels here in the U.S.
christ mass.

savior + dinner

salvation + feast

= celebration + food

= win

how did presents get into this?

Celebrations often have gifts and offerings.

That and the Three Wise Men, whom gavve Christ gifts, began that tradition as well.

They correlate quite well really.
Really? I heard it was a pagan holiday celebrating the winter solstice.

For me, however, it means its time to drink, eat and be ******** merry.

That's what I said, that Christmas, the way we celebrate it, with gift giving, comes from the winter solstice celebrations, which is a pagan holiday.

Capitalism? Well, that's america for you.
i think christmas is spending time with family
and telling them how much they mean to them
Why would we want to celebrate christs birth? $mas for me biggrin

Christmas, sadly, does have a new meaning to me. Free flight home to spend 3 carefree weeks in a city, with friends and family, that I haven't seen since June 30. Can't wait...

What branch o' service?

Navy, currently going to the military college.
Except that according to the Bible, Jesus was born in the Spring.

I like my Christmas materialistic, tyvm.
