Slavery ended a long time ago. Obama is in the office. Racism still exists but the word n****r or n***a today holds different meaning to a lot of people. It is considered one of the most offensive words in the human language but all races continue to use it for a variety of reasons - good and bad. I am under the belief that you should never hold yourself back from saying a "bad" word, simply because you are afraid of offending someone. All words can be used in a context that will not offend someone - and you should save your rage for people who are truly trying to offend you. Jokes can also be a form of hostility but I feel the same way about it as saying it outright - All jokes can be used in a context that is not meant to offend someone and many people will fail to see the humor and lash out. Because of our lack of understanding on many people's parts it is our duty to make sure that our words are perceived correctly as not to be mistaken for a pig.
But we should never stop ourselves from saying n****r. It's not a magical word that turns you into a racist. It's just a word - with a lot of bad history, which is recently finding new and friendlier meaning among younger people.
Now onto the nerdrage...
Come on people, it's the year 2011 - not 1950. I'm tired of all of you ******** people getting your asses into knots because I can say the word n****r in a non-racist and jokingly racist fashions. Niggers can say the word n****r and call their friends niggers and get away with it. I can't make a joke about niggers in trees without some stupid pseudo-racist flipping the ******** out about what a terrible person I am for saying n****r. If people would let go of racist hatred all together, saying n****r wouldn't matter. Call me an optimistic person, but I'm sure in the distant future n****r will be used without fear of being reprimanded. And that is how it should be.
Besides, all you have to say is "I'm a little b***h and I can't take a joke" and I'll stop.
I guess I can understand if you were held as a slave... oh wait....
I am completely against not saying words because they're considered bad. Like Retard. I refuse to stop saying words simply because some person with a stick up their a** gets sensitive. Grow some balls.
oh and - Old people from the south don't count. Those we just ignore and move on because their generation is going to die out soon anyways. But if you're a little white woman cracking jokes with friends - seriously, why give a ********?
discuss.

To the I am not aware of how racist America really is, Racism is still very prominent, I am not being culturally sensitive, etc etc comments :
I acknowledge fully how racist America is. And I feel that getting over social taboos is very important - everyone should be allowed to say n****r and it shouldn't be considered offensive unless if used as hate speech. I will be courteous to others, otherwise I will never censor my words simply because it's a "bad word"
The "N word" is not the only word. the "R word" is another one, as well as many swear words like ********.
If you are truly offended by what I say, then you are a victim of your own ignorance.
