Apart from that, though, I don't think I've ever actually cried at an anime death. Askeladd's at the end of the Vinland Saga prologue took me completely by surprise, though.

Lelouch from Code Geass, Itachi from Naruto, Lockon from Gundam 00, Hughes from Fullmetal Alchemist, and Nicol, Flay, and Mwu's death from Gundam Seed (though Mwu isn't actually dead e_e).

reall? I smiled for Kamina's death, not because I didn't like him, but because I thin k he died the way he would've wanted to, as a worrior. as for Kittan, I thought that death was pointless, and that he should've lived.

wolfs rain... EVERYONE seems to die within 3 episodes so it was hard to feel pain for one character in particular when everyone dies...

grave of the fireflies: think of how many people in Japan during world war 2 ended up dying in similar ways to those two and their parents...

L's death was so sad, i was kind of depressed at first when i found out that eiichi was dead in Fullmoon wo sagashite.

His and Light's was so sad. I cried at both >> But Lights was sadder for me. it had a depressing ending becuas Ryuk killed him T^T

Ai this is a hard one for me as a lot of my favorite characters have died <.<
A tie really.
Kaien Shiba (Bleach) Reason being his wife was killed by that hollow, tried to avenge her, and got taken over by it. He then proceeded to try and kill his captain, and a close friend who just happened to admire him. The friend was forced to kill him, and even then she couldn't let his death go one of the saddest in my opinion.

Kamina (Gurren Lagann) Edit: Alright I didn't see, as more people posted smile I was crying as Yoko was crying. I mean the guy went all out and ended up dying, and the person he died to rescue goes emo for about five episodes making statues of him -_- Yeah poor Kamina sad
