Welcome to Gaia! ::

Mariko's death from Elfen Lied.

But at the same time, it was kind of happy, because she got what she always wanted. She wasn't alone in the dark anymore. But thinking about what she had to go to just to meet her Father is heart-wrenching.
Asuna's death from the first season of Negima. The funeral scene that followed directly after it made me cry so hard. It was heartbreaking watching all of the girls cry, especially Ayaka. And Negi too.

Then... Hughes's death from Fullmetal Alchemist. He was such a likeable character.
nobody probably put this and i haven't watched as many animes, but asuna's death in negima. But the way negi cries, it's so annoying. still sad though...
Wrath from Fma and Lelouch from Code Geass crying

L's death. that was depressing.

I wasn't sad. I was just pissed. It made me stop reading. Really, he was carrying like 50% of my interest in Death Note and then it just dissolved for me...

Maes Hughes from Fullmetal Alchemist.

He was a genuinely nice man and an uncorrupt, yet kickass official. He was a second father to Ed and Al, an incredibly loving father of a very young child, and Roy's best friend.

I think what made it so bad is that the death came as such a surprise, as a lucky shot in a murder. And the homunculus took the form of his beloved wife to do it.

So, not only was Roy crying silently under the brim of his hat at the funeral, but his daughter, who was either three or four and had just seen him the night before didn't understand. She stood there with her mother, asking why they were burying "Daddy," pleaded with her mother that they couldn't bury him, that he said he had work to do; she begged her mother to make them stop and her father to wake up, which prompted the stricken mother to cry.

And on top of it all, Ed and Al don't even know, which leaves us with that ghostly memory of Hughes in Ed's mind, as the train passes the station, seeing a smiling Hughes waving them goodbye.

Maes Hughes wins, hands down.

I appreciate you for this
Hughes is hands down one of the best anime characters ever.
:3

And, I say either Hughes
Or
Lelouch when Suzaku kills him.
No other Code Geass death in my opinion is really as sad.
Maybe Euphy, but I laughed when Shirley died.
[Yes. I am a terrible person.]

i thought Eupihes was sad only because Suzaku turned evil sad
i liked Shirley sad she was kinda annoying at the same time

I'm going with Lt. Losers 2nd choice: Lelouch's death in Code Geass R2. It's sad, and also revealing about himself all at once to his sister... crying crying crying
I don't know but to me I will have to say Light Yagami death...great mind but sad how he use it..
For me, it was L's death.

One where I was holding back tears through the whole manga though, was Sora's death in Kitchen Princess. It made all of my friends tear up, even the one guy who was brave enough to read it. Just thinking about it is making me tear up again...
lool, OP should really post "warning, spoilers" in the topic.
I was really sad about Nina from FMA and the girls from Elfen Lied. The load of deaths from Fushigi Yuugi (especially Hotohori, as he was my favorite character) really riled me up :c There are tear stains in my book now. Or something. I also cried during the war at the end of Tail of the Moon (not the attack by i forgot his name. The blind gut ._.) but the one where it was on Usagi and Hanzo's marriage day.

L's death. that was depressing.
His and Light's was so sad. I cried at both >> But Lights was sadder for me. it had a depressing ending becuas Ryuk killed him T^T

Sorry, but I never really liked Light. He's a freaking MURDERER. And near the end, he went a little COO COO. So ummm, my sister and I were... laughing... DON'T HURT MEH! AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! burning_eyes Gets zapped by the rays of DEATH. And hate. Anyway, I was crying when I saw L die. I was rocking myself and crying and sucking my thumb; it was depressing. At that point, I officially hated Light and wanted him to die. My wish came true.
More death rays from angry fan-girls who love Light obsessively. burning_eyes burning_eyes burning_eyes burning_eyes burning_eyes crying I don't like it when I die.

You think he went coo coo then? You should see what he does on the live action movie. eek

I did! He freaked me out! eek I was staring at him and was like "Whut the HECK? This time he went COMPLETELY insane!"
Seriously, if only Light hadn't gone nuts, he would've been a good favorite of mine I think. (That, and if he didn't kill people) eek
I'd have to say Lelouch's death in Code Geass R2. omg, I read the spoilers before, and even that didn't help when I saw it. I literally cried. The way Nunally cried over her brother's body was too much. crying
There are alot i cried about and all that. Lelouch from code geass, L and Light from death note. And *sniff* Itachi Uchiha from Naruto. I smiled really big and screamed for joy when i figured out Lelouch was really alive though. Oh also i saw Lelouch's death in the Japenese version before i saw it in english. Even though i knew he was alive i still cried on the english one too, but not as much lol.
