I hate it how people are always saying things like this:

"you can block bullets with a sword"
"swords are better than guns"
"guns are for losers with no skills"
"guns take no skills to use"
"guns have no tactics to them"

1. Swords can not block/deflect a bullet, a bullet travels at anywhere from 1000-5000 feet per second, which is much to fast to be blocked by a sword. Also, If you managed to bring your sword to where the bullet is coming from, the bullet would go straight through the sword and keep going at a steady strength. Some guns (i.e.- Shotguns) fire more than one projectile, a shutgun would blow you to pieces, literally.

2. In order to operate a gun you be must be very strong. The recoil on just a .30 caliber gun hurts you arm like hell, a 12 gauge shotgun almost breaks your shoulder when you fire it. You also must wear ear protection because the explosion of the gun powder in the cartdridge is deafening and would permanently damage your hearing.

3. The tactics of a war have become more important. The were no tactics in the days of the sword because, well, swords sucked. The wars we fight now are trench wars, extremely tactical.

No matter what you say, I will not change my mind. I will always have a comeback.

A child can fire a gun and kill a man who's trained all his life.

A child cannot pick up a sword and kill someone who's trained all his life.

(I do use guns, by the way. I shoot at the Range almost every weekend)

QED. You've been pwned.
Swords are more interesting. There's more art in a sword duel, and more talent required to use one skillfully. I prefer swords to guns, all the way.

That being said, if you had a sword and I had a gun and we were both experts in using said weapons and we had a duel... I'd be dead.
It's an art-ish thing.

More self-control about it, I suppose. Therefore, more respectable.
I partialy agree with you that must people are absurd with their logic, but there is tactics in every form of fighting no matter what the people make use of . LIke take Spike and Vicious from cowboy bebop for example .

well, you see, if we "dueled" all you would have to do is pull the trigger, I'd be dead before you heard anything.

I agree and disagree,a bullet can't go through a sword. It could bind it,but it would bounce off the sword more likely.I like swords and knives better anyways. xp
Of course in a battle a gun could beat a sword, that's no contest.

And ya, no sworduser could block a bullet.

But I think most people would agree that sword fights would be more entertaining to watch than gunfights. ^_^

Well that all depends on the range, I mean if you are right in somebodies face then it is kind of hard for them to aim their riffle, long range gun at you and thre's no reload time, and swords don't make any loud exploding sounds which makes them beter for stealh missions. HOWEVER in order to do anything that i've said a person would have to have had extrememly accute planning and tactics to avoid getting shot , in other words be down right perfect which i dont' see happening anytime soon.

Not nessicarily. It is possible to dodge a bullet, as long as you anticipate the path it's going to take, and move before your opponent pulls the trigger. Why do you think Musashi pwned as much as he did? They had rifles when he was alive.

It was a shitty sword then. Try shooting through a Katana that's made of folded steel. 400 folds. I'd like to see your pellet gun shoot through that.

I don't think that tactics have become more or less important with the change of techonoly: the tactics have just changed. Since swords aren't projectial weapons, digging a trench wasn't needed. Instead, positions uphill were less desirable than downhill ones. Also, flanking an enemy was used more extensively then with guns.

Dude, you know that you killed your own thread. Cut people some slack; you're getting all worked up of what some idiot says. Guns are so much more useful than swords, but they both can get the job done.

By the way, if it can shoot through said Katana, I'll give up women. Yup, you heard it. I will give up women if this asshats pellet gun can shoot through a four hundred folded Katana.

I'm waiting.
