sorry, but i have to agree that sexual urges are just as self destructive as the urge to drink blood or the urge to have someone drink blood from you (from a mental health stand point).

sexual urges by themselves are fine, but when someone goes out and picks up a prostitute (or becomes one) or random stranger to satisfy these sexual urges it gets dangerous. they are now exsposing themselves to a plethera of deseases. vampires who drink blood from willing donors don't have this issue, they have their donors screened for blood born illnesses. also it's pretty much a requirement that the donor be in good health, meaning even if they do not have a blood born illness they also can not have the flu, common cold, etc. some vampires may go as far as to require their donor to have a mental examination, as yes, mental disorder is considered to be not in good health. sexual urges that causes a person to put themselves in danger are often associated with some sort of mental disorder, i think it's most commonly associated with depression (yes i know there are multiple forms of depression).

I'm honestly not seeing how you can say that. Just because someone has the urge to have sex does not mean they have the urge to go out and pick up a prostitute or have sex with a random stranger. Sure, certain sexual activities can be damaging, but I think it's an enourmous stretch to compare sex in general to the desire for self harm (or assisted self harm.) The majority of the population has sexual urges, and many of them can find healthy and safe ways to fulfill those urges without hurting anyone. This is the difference between the human vampire lifestyle, because a human vampire cannot find a way to satisfy this 'craving' they claim to have without hurting anyone, willing or not.
In addition, if a ***** solicits a kid online and that kid 'agrees' to have sexual contact with them, that doesn't make it right, or needed. This is how I see the human vampirism lifestyle, albiet to a lesser extent.
And I am refering to blood vampires, just in case I need to clarify again.

If you're not going to see my point now you never will. But I wish people would realize that just becuase they have unexplained 'urges' doesn't mean they're healthy or should be acted on.

i understand your point, but i feel that you are not understanding ours. you taking our side to the extreme but not taking the comparision there.

i also tried to make as clear as possible that not everyone with sexual urges is going to go out and pick up a prostitue or random stranger. i tried to show the extrem side of a sexual urge, while also explaining what vampires do to protect themselves and their donors. we also have a donor bill of rights / consent form that can be modified as needed. i'll post it in a few minutes so all can see it.

This Bill of Rights is to promote the continued safety of the most precious of gifts to us, their life essence. It is suggested that this be signed by both the vampire and the donor on a 30/60/90 day trial basis. After this, the contract can be resigned for an extended period of time which can be either the 30/60/90/ or 6 months to 1 year. At the end of these contracts, discussions can be made as to whether or not changes should be done. What will be allowed and what will not be allowed.

1) As a donor, I know that it is through my personal sacrifice that the vampires needs are met. It is my loving nature that allows this relationship to continue. It is my right to decline to feed the vampire for any reason.

2) As a donor to a vampiric being, it is my right to know that I am in a vampiric/donor relationship that will be mutually beneficial to both me and the vampire I am donating my life essence to.

3) I am the essence provider. It is for me to decide whether or not I am able to give of my essence to the vampire I am with. I must be allotted time to heal and regain my essence in order to better support my vampiric partner.

4) At no time should my wounds not be allowed to heal.

5) At no time should I feel stressed about giving of my essence, if at any time I feel stressed, I have the right to back away from the feed, without being or feeling threatened by my vampiric partner.

6) Should I feel threatened in any way, shape or form, I have the right to seek guidance and council from other donors and leaders of the vampire community.

7) As a donor to a vampiric individual, I have the right to know that my position as lover, friend, family, roommate should not be jeopardized by my not wanting to give of my essence. In the slang, "it should not cost me my a** to be a donor."

cool As a donor, I should also respect the needs of the vampire and try to learn more about his/her feeding habits in order to help stabilize his/her imbalances in energy.

9) As a donor in a vampire/donor relationship, I realize that though I have many necessary rights, I must also take cares not to abuse the person I am donating my essence to. These same rights afforded me in this Bill of Rights should also be extended to the vampire I am donating too.

10) Ultimately it is my right to know that I will be safe in all aspects of the vampiric/donor relationship and should I ever feel that my safety is jeopardized, I have the right to walk away clear and free.

Ultimately, it is our (both the donor and the vampire) responsibility to insure that we are not abused. It is our (both the donor and the vampire) personal responsibility to leave a vampire/donor relationship that we feel is abusive in any nature. We can not be abused unless we allow ourselves to be.

@ Zimmerchild: I suppose it's hard for me to see your side because A) I feel nothing but revulsion at the whole idea, B) There seem to be so many teens/preteens running around claiming to be 'vampires' right now that I see it as a dangerous fad that shouldn't be encouraged, and C) I still think the 'need to feed' argument is bullshit.

However, it's obvious that at least some of you are being as responsible as possible with this lifestyle, especially with the bill of rights (which I did actually read) so even if I don't agree with or believe it at least it seems that you're taking steps to keep things safe.

However, it's obvious that at least some of you are being as responsible as possible with this lifestyle, especially with the bill of rights (which I did actually read) so even if I don't agree with or believe it at least it seems that you're taking steps to keep things safe.

we acctualy try very hard to make are community something that is not a joke, unfortunately there are some characters out there that are just that. characters, that make us all look back in most peoples eyes.

teens/preteens are what i was referring to as characters, it's another reason why almost all vamps and donor (the smart ones in my book, few exceptions) will require the vampire or donor to be at least 18 years old.

can't really say much to you on the need to feed argument, i guess the best comparision would be someone who craves something specific (and isn't pregnant or menstrating), like oranges, pizza, pork chops, or chocolate. some of the cravings are not the best things for the body or possibly another living creature, but they help that person.

the most of us within the community are responsible. some, because of the perconcived notions people have, will only stay within the community and only some of the time communicate with others that are not of it. they usually will not talk to one on the outside about our lifestyle or community. i know a few that like to get the word out, one i know does vampire q&a videos on youtube (i'm not talking about sebastian todd), others speak at conventions and such, or go on tv. it's just what each is up to. i prefer a more anonymous roll.

i think you will find that most of us are very responsible.

now, do you eat meat, persay? i like to compare. i, for example, am revulsed by cooked meat. to be honest, i find it groty. i know many people, however, who need to eat it- because they do not know how to eat so their bodies will get the protein and vitamins without it. if they did, they wouldn't need it.

it's the same thing here. we don't know how to accomidate our bodies' needs any other way than to simply give it what it's craving because without it we become unhealthy, which iswhy the craving will intensify. when a natural substitute that doesn't just cover up but actually fixes the need, i'm sure real vampires will be more than happy to switch over. herbs are easier to find than blood anyways.
