hm thats strange, i heard karma was how the world balances out the deeds, like if you do something wrong you get something bad happening back to you. or has that been confused with the wiccan rule of three? i mean thats the definition on 'my name is earl' lol.

Wicca did pull in from eastern philosophies (as Wicca is not born of one tradition or another, but a conglomeration of many traditions and belief systems). So the karma law does apply to an extent. Basic cause and effect. Although, the explanation of karma differs slightly between belief systems. Some actually refer to karma as not so much having an affect for a cause right away, but the affect occurring in their next life. Which is sort of pointless, if people don't remember what they did.

Function: noun
Etymology: French, from German Vampir, from Serbian vampir
Date: 1732
1: the reanimated body of a dead person believed to come from the grave at night and suck the blood of persons asleep
2 a: one who lives by preying on others b: a woman who exploits and ruins her lover

THIS is the absolute definition of a vampire. Anything other than this is invalid, and is a completely differant thing. Accept it.
And don't twist the second definition --- A predator prey relationship is completely differant from a commensalistic relationship.

*pulls out her Webster's Third New International Ditionary for the second bloody time*

Vampire : 1 : a bloodsucking ghost or reanimated body of a dead person believed to come from the grave and wander about by night sucking the blood of persons asleep and causing their death.
2 a : one who lives by preying mercilessly on others : EXTORTIONER, BLOODSUCKER

there is a bit more about women and such.

Vampirism : 1 : belief in vampires 2 : the actions of a vampire : the act or practice of bloodsucking : the practice of preying upon another (as a lover)

so there you have it, the dictionary definition of vampire and vampirism, and i must say i fit those terms pretty nicely, especialy the preying mercilessly on others bit.

Preying has multiple definitions too. The one used in the second dictionary is...
Quote:
to make raids or attacks for booty or plunder

or
Quote:
to victimize another or others

or
Quote:
to exert a harmful or destructive influence

pirate so vampires are actually pirates!?! (jk btw. >.>' ) lol it sounds a bit epic, 'the vampire made a tactful raid on the poor victims veins for the precious booty of blood' rofl ah im sorry but the things going through my head like that made me laugh. anyways, i think that prey bit was a bit playful, not that serious. i hope. sweatdrop

Not necessarily, no. Although they do overlap. Dharma is basically how to live your life rightly as discerned by your position in the caste system. For instance, a person who is a merchant should follow right actions as a merchant to collect good karma. Things such as stealing would collect bad karma across any caste.

As much as I like learning about wiccan theology, I can't help but wonder what gardner was smoking when he wrote the Rule of Three. It's a nonsensically exaggerated version of "what comes around goes around".

It is impossible to know the potential some people carry.
A more accurate statement would be, "It is impossible to know if my friends are X-Men".

Do you listen to yourself talk?

You're so cute how you think you know everything that exists in the universe.

soooo sorry to burst your bubble [tiny](no i'm not)[/tiny] but i've been to medical professionals time and time again. i've explained this multiple times now on this thread alone. guess what, they don't know what's wrong with me, i have no existing known deseases and i've even been tested for rare ones like prophyria. so yea, you theroy, total crap.
here's an idea; there's nothing medically wrong with you and you're making your dependancy up. That's always a possibility too.

OH RIGHT.
Because people want to be starving and feel like s**t and almost die in a hospital.
No you're right. They're just making it all up.

What's next? People who have cancer? Cancer doesn't exist!!

or maybe smokers are completly fine, they just think they are unhealthy and want to have to live breathing from an oxygen tank. -.- i mean as long as they arent coughing up big black balls of tar of course they're perfectly fine. rolleyes
Smoking is a chemical addiction. Chemical addictions physically change the chemistry of the brain, forcing dependancy on the user.

This vampirism s**t is not physical. You do not physically need it, you want to need it, consciously or subconsciously. Vampirism is the literal equivalent to people who can't stop updating their Myspace. Seek therapy.

really? so if i said I have absolutly no facination with vampires, that the only reason i have a word to call myself was because I was seaking out why i had these cravings and was doing weird things with energy, what would you say. That some how my subconscious mind is fascinated with vampires so it made me want to feed from energy and blood? now who sounds "crazy"?

lol yeh i guess it would be a bit pointless to have the punishment in the next life. you spend one life being an evil ruthless person and the next wondering what the heck you did to deserve such a miserable life. i guess that would fall under the irony that is life. but yeh i think of karma as hope for some kind of justice in a merciless world. sweatdrop

Slippery slope fallacy. Cancer is physical and real. Psychological addictions are in your head. You can experience withdraw symptoms without actually physically requiring something. It's in your head. You should be seeking therapy to get over it, not parade it as a lifestyle.

hm i doubt its that easy to get over, if its possible. many say it is a deficency, which can't really be cured. and they've tried eating iron rich diets ect. id be tricky but who knows...

my diet is a high iron diet acctualy. high diet low carb....maybe it's the carbs i need...but that can't be right.

Explain how, in any fashion that could even vaguely resemble logic, a person's emotions could manipulate any form of weather even a minute amount outside of science fiction, and I'll apologize.

Until then, appealing to ignorance is a logical fallacy.

Remember the context of the statement. She is asserting that there are no medical explanations for her dependancy on blood. If this is accepted as truth, then it can by psychologically explained. It can not a deficiency because that would be medical. There are no other explanations, other than just being an attention whore.

*hangs head in shame* you got me, i'm a huge attention whore.... rolleyes mother ******** please! you haven't got the first clue about me.

Couldn't get past the second sentence because my sides were in pain from laughing. xD
You are hilarious. <3
But the whole "vampire making tactful raid on the poor victim's veins" sounds like something Stephinie Myers would put in one of her books... D;

not only do you not understand the subconscious mind, but you also seem to be out of touch with the term 'crazy'.

The only type of vampirism I will admit to believing is "psychic vampirism", but they (read: you) should not be supported for being one. If you need to leech off of other people's emotions or energy to stay fine yourself, then there is still something wrong with you, most likely psychological, and you should still seek therapy so you can function independently.

Some things are illogical. But they still exist.

We once thought the earth was flat, because it was illogical to see it as anything other.

I didn't say you were an attention whore. If anything, I think you have a psychological addiction which you should therapy for. However, "attention whore" is still a quite everpresent possibility for people who claim to be "vampires".
