Well, my friend is a Therian, but not a new-agey one.

She just beliefs that her soul is that of a wolf, much like the Native Americans associated themselves with a spirit animal. She actually follows the ideals and religion of Native Americans.

Now, I do realize that most new age "I'm in this for the yiffing!" idiots choose either a wolf, dragon, or make up some lame-a** creature or hybrid (Think: Corgi/Horse), but she is not them.

I find it easier to believe that people can associate their spirit to an animal than believing they need psychic energy or blood for sustenance, or having psychic powers.

Vampires just seem ridiculous to me.

Have to say.
Native Americans rarely associate themselves with spirit animals.
It's totem polls, and it's for protectors for the chiefs/village.

(sorry- the native american in me made me say it)

Leaving this account for a new one.

Alright, explain to me what's so "ridiculous" about those claims.
and not even all of us claim to have those, hell, I don't always agree with them either.
What's so unbelievable about normal people who require a little blood or other form of energy for sustenance?

I find it irritating how you people can believe in something like Therians and not believe in Vampires at all.

We're less "out of the ordinary" than they are, how the hell is it so hard to believe?

How can you believe the people who are fused with the spirit of an animal, yet you can't believe a simple case of someone who needs to constantly supplement himself/herself with blood/other forms of energy?

Honestly people, is it that hard to believe that there are people who are a little different out there? It's not like we're claiming to be "immortal" and have some kind of "amazing inhuman abilities" that normal people don't have. Such is not the case here. We're human beings all the same, just "different", is that so hard to believe?

Seriously, this is pissing me off.

Ok. Here it is.

Well. Since your ingesting something, you can actually look at Vampirism scientifically. It fails there, as does therianism but oh well. I have left behind science to talk about this stuff. Now I concentrate on history.

Therianism has roots in almost every culture. The idea of humans associating themselves with animals dates back to the cavemen.

Vampirism, however, does not have the same solid history. The majority of vampire history is about Traditional Vampires, I've not found a single mention of vampires even close to what is talked about here before the 1800 hundreds. Except maybe the chick who bathed in virgins blood, but I think we can agree she was just batshit insane. It seems to be trad. vampires all the way down from 1800.

As long as we're talking about history, take into consideration that Vampirism actually does show up in other world cultures as far east as the orient, not to mention people of that time were highly superstitious and/or otherwise paranoid to the point of either exaggerating stories of things they had seen to make it more interesting, or they were just crazy/paranoid enough to interpret it that way.
The fact is, I believe what people today consider "traditional" vampires are exaggerations of people no different than ourselves, but as it was at that time, people were highly superstitious or paranoid, or just wanted to tell a good story, as I stated earlier in my post.

I'm sorry but, can you prove this?

Ever heard of the Gung Xi of Chinese mythology? (forgive me if I misspelled that)
and there have been accounts of people hunting and/or killing people both modern and from older times who were suspected to have been vampires, and as a result of the superstitious minds, they were killed through whatever means were typically used to do away with a "mythological" vampire.
I can't quite find an exact record, but that's what google is for.
I scoured the internet for Gung Xi and got nothing. And the chinese vampires I did find resemble only trad vampires. I'm pretty sure there's no real history before the 1800s, aside from what you say is 'exaggerated.'

Bah, I'd better stop being skeptical. Even though it's said it's permited, from what I've observed from a distance, it's really not.

Are we having the Vampire/Therian fight for real?

There is no bodily reason to require the blood of others.

Anything of value in it, you would already have as you have your own blood.

I knew I messed that up somehow...

I don't really remember the speech she gave me on the origins and things like that.

But she did use totem, my bad.

Nutritionally you are absolutely right. For sanguinarians however, it's not the nutrition on the blood that matters. The blood is a vehicle for pure energy. Which they do not have.

Just come back in one piece, ya know? Don't let anyone STAKE YA! AHHHH.... bad joke, no really, stay safe.

Eh, I'll be fine. They can't kill me, I'm immortal right? Unless they do stake me, or behead me.

Maybe a bad joke, because they really do behead people over there....

They probably started to do it when they heard news of Vampires serving for the US.

Naw, you're built like a tank. You should be fine.

Armored Personnel Carriers have nothing on me. If I just swallow all my allies and then walk across the enemy lines, and then puke um all up everything'll be fine. It's like a modern day trojan horse.

Ah. I bet they did. It all makes since now.
