Well some people that are disturbed to the point of murder truly think they're vampires...
So the media milks their insanity for buyers, i mean when i see a murder massacre and it says in big bold print they think they're vampires, i will read it before any other aricle =/

I cant count how many news stories ive read about murders, and the kids thinking they're 2000 year old vampires..but its just not relevant to this discussion, so i dont see where she thinks it is.

' oh look, THESE people claimed to be vampires and were psycho killers, therefore, all of you are! '

Do NOT knock Sanguina-chan. She's very open-minded.

She's just not living in an Anne Rice/Twilight-inspired fantasy world, and has a firm grasp on reality, and those things that do not fit in it. Vampires are one of those things. They are fictional. People who try to claim 'Oh, well we use the term to mean blah blah blah' are just using the term for sensationalism, and to add supernatural appeal to their fetishes.

tl;dr version: STFU and GTFO.

I know she is very open minded which is why her post surprised me greatly, she's in a pagan guild with me taking, she is so very open minded to the various pagan and occult practices I am surpised that she isn't a little more open minded to subjects such as this.

Most of the vampire comunity does not live in a fantasy world but in stone cold reality, with the vast majority of the community aged over 30.

What the hell is twilight anyway? I hear people always mentioning it. The only Twilight I know of is an annual gathering in the USA organised by the AVA.

Ther term isn't used to add sensationalism at all, its used because it stuck, other terms in use include sanguivore.

It's a boy meets girl, girl likes boy, boy pretends not to like girl, girl founds out boy is vampire, they fall in love stories....
Very run-of-the-mill, very bland, very boring....

Well if you don't mind me saying it is nice to have intelligent skeptics in threads like this. Seeing that this is supposed to be a discussion and support thread for the vampire community.

I think most vampires would be smart and know to get things tested, and keep it neat. Vampires don't need so much blood that they'd have to kill people.

Yes, that, my friends, is an example of insanity as well as taking the vampire of MYTH and perverting it. Not vampirism as we are discussing in this thread.

I really don't get the whole vampire obsession.

Isn't someone who craves blood someone who basically has a fetish for it?

If there was evidence then maybe yes, I would actually be able to think of vampirism as a possible condition.

For now I'm just convinced it stems from Anne Rice/Twilight and teenage girls wanting to be different.
