The other day I realized... Halloween is racist!

So, for the past month I've been working at a Spirit Halloween store (seasonal-only store owned by Spencer's Gifts that sells Halloween costumes and some accessories). Not until the day before Halloween did I notice how incredibly racist it really is. Now bear with me, really think about it for a minute, while I bring up some key points that helped me realize this.

All of the sexy adult costumes feature white girls on the package.
The humor costumes are all white...
...even the ones depicting racists costumes.
Kids costumes?
Yep, every model is WHITE.

Second point:
Even accessory costumes are made for Caucasian skin only.
Every latex injury or skin attachment, WHITE.
Every bald cap or wig with bald skin, WHITE!


There is ONE group of costume and accessories that contained black people. Care to take a guess?
Pimps.


So, ED, with all your up-at-arms attacks on other things that might or could be called racist, why overlook the obvious: Halloween is RACIST!

I don't give a damn. Everything's racist for all we know. Everything has subliminal racist messages (like this Post a Reply page; how come it's not black, hmm?). I'm half black. I don't find it particularily offensive that all the models are white. It may mean that no black or other minority wanted to model the costume. Maybe only white women are slutty enough to dress in such provocative costumes. I do think the pimp costume is over the line, but there will always be inappropriate stereotypes in America.

Today in my American Indian studies class, the only Indian student in the class said that today a girl said to him, "It's been raining non-stop. You should quit dancing."

Racism is everywhere, and it well never die, but the severity of it varies.
I don't think Halloween is "rascist" per se.

I live in new orleans. It's population is mostly black.
I've only seen black pimps, never caucasian.
This doesn't conclude that all blacks are pimps. It's simply a more realistic model.
So, it's not racist.

The costume company / those in charge of the ads are (or are accidentally seeming to be) racist. The holiday itself isn't.

Edit: Unless if you're one of those people who don't understand why night has the color theme of "black", and the overall theme of "scary". Then *******(censored)*******

There were also asians wearing geisha and ninja outfits, and I remember seeing one slutty costume with a latino looking chick in it.

I was saying, if you don't care about something being racist against blacks, it's because it does not affect you, as a white person. I'm not saying all racists are white, so don't even try to put that in my mouth.

There is also a local costume shop, same deal there (except no website for photo evidence).
Also, a quick google image search of commercial Halloween costumes brings up a shot of Playboy's costumes. Guess what...



They're all white.
