Okay. I know that the first post says that you can't say that you don't like Avatar, but I really think that just because you don't agree with someone hating it doesn't mean that they have no right posting their opinion.

And now for why I came here: my opinion. Yes, Avatar is interesting, but it definately isn't my favourite. And I do have to say that it's not a Japanese animation, but it is anime, since anime means animation. At first I thought that Avatar was great: it was interesting, the elements were involved, and the characters seemed very intriguing.... However, the over-used expressions that are always attatched to Japanese-style animation sort of became exaggerated and slightly annoying. Another problem is the stereotyping of the element of fire: after a while, the fact that everyone think that fire is evil gets annoying. It would've been a bit more interesting if the element of water or air was portrayed as the "evil" one. Also, sometimes the episodes seemed sort of... Idiotic, for lack of a better word. But please don't think I'm flaming Avatar or anything: I'm just stating my opinion. Despite these problems, it isn't all that bad: the storyline makes sense, the characters are compelling and sometimes even humorous.

Basically, Avatar is okay to me. It's not the best, but it's not the worst, either. It's good enough to watch, but not good enough to obsess over. However, this is only my opinion, so please don't think I'm insulting you or the show.

I can see what you mean. But I seriously doubt the Air Nomads or the Water Tribes are either big enough or strong enough to even pose a threat of taking over the world. The Earth Kingdom could (that might actually be kind of interesting). I think the reason it seems idiotic is because it's on Nickelodeon. Nickelodeon is a kid's channel and I believe it is keeping Avatar from becoming the good anime it's destined to be. But I really understand what you're saying, and thank you for being polite about it and not saying "it sucks!" or something like that.

I don't think there really is such thing as an "imitation anime" if it's done in the anime style, it's anime. Whether it was made in Japan or not

Line: "I couldn't have done it without your help!" (extremely cheesy - blech)
Episode: "The King of Omashu" I know it has the cabbage merchant in it, but it was totally a filler episode. Plus Zuko wasn't in it. Have you noticed that they put Zuko-less episodes two in a row? It was "The King of Omashu" and "Imprisoned" (I know he was at the end, but it doesn't count!), then "Jet" and "The Great Divide".

So, what does everybody think about couples on the show?

Personally, I can't stand how so many people have put Zuko and Katara together. They're just together because people are looking for an excuse to have a couple on the show. I don't think they'll ever get together and I'll never support that couple unless Hell freezes over twice, the sky turns pink, the grass turns purple, pigs fly, monkeys fly, and cats and dogs really do rain from the sky.

For Katara/Aang, it's not happening either. Katara is more of an older sister towards Aang. Aang just goes to her for attention because he's a little kid and little kids like attention from people older than themselves.

Katara/Haru - maybe. Not totally sure. I'd be completely fine if they just stayed friends. But nonetheless, I hope Haru is brought back in future episodes.

Sokka/Suki - I just don't like Suki. Don't know why, but I don't. Besides, I think that was a one-time thing anyway.

You know, I think people pair Katara up with everyone because she's the only main girl in the series. They need to bring in another female!
