picturesmcgee TuckyX You also have to think about how much money Cartoon Network is saving by not financing and/or acquiring the amount of animated series that they once did. I remember reading somewhere (i think it was an old issue of animation magazine) that an episode of Foster's costed $15,000 to make. $15,000 is actually pretty cheap compared to other animated series. An episode of any of the CN Real shows most likely costs less than that. Reality TV in general is a cheap way for networks to make money. In todays economy, sponsors aren't going to be paying as much for ad time. Which means networks have less money to produce or acquire shows. You also have to think about who Cartoon Network's core audience are. You can easily find that out by watching the types of commercials that are played during each block. Those are the people that CN really cares about. If enough of them are watching CN Real, then I don't see it going away anytime soon. The animation industry has always had it's ups and downs. Be patient, this time will pass. When a network is named Cartoon Network I find the airing of live action fare a bit inexcusable. It was bad enough on [adult swim]. :/ I understand the network's choices looking at the situation from an economic standpoint, but it doesn't mean I have to like it. Honestly, I'm ok with some of the live action stuff. BrainRush is very fun and Destroy Build Destroy is passable by virtue of Andrew WK being its host. The rest of it is pretty bad, though. Bobb'e Says and Dude What Would Happen are like terrible rehashes of America's Funniest Home Videos and MythBusters respectively. Sigh. Whenever I turn the TV to CN I get hit with nostalgia bombs. Thank god for Boomerang, am I right? Too bad its so damn expensive |
