I'd like to say I think this is a great thread. I just became a mom on July 4th to a beautiful baby boy named Zain. heart I hope to be able to share more about him and hear about everyone else's children also.

How was everyone's halloween?

So I've been thinking of breastfeeding lately, and I'm not sure whether I will or not. Both my aunt, and my nephew's mother bottle fed they're babies... And they both were fine with it, so I'm very under informed about breastfeeding. >.< My mother kind of assumes I'll just bottle feed, but I'm curious about breastfeeding too. I'll definitely ask my doctor about it, but I won't be seeing him till around December with the way things are going... So anyone have any basic pros and cons?

I know it'll save money, so that's always great. And many women say it allows for baby and mom time, but at the same time, I know bottle feeding can be satisfying too. Plus I'm a little nervous about breastfeeding in general, I'm very shy. @_@;

Hi, I'm Spider. I'm the breast guru they were talking about.

I think everyone should at least try breastfeeding. You can try it, if you decide to quit later you can...but if you don't start from the beginning and regret it later, it's a lot more difficult to relactate (not impossible though) and give it another go.

So, pros: We are mammals and human milk is the PERFECT food for human babies. It's free. It's insanely convenient once your child is past the newborn stage. No bottles to clean or pack. Breastfed infants are less likely to have asthma, allergies, diabetes, leukemia, ear infections, or be obese. Breastfed infants receive antibodies from their mother via milk so they can often avoid sickness. Breastfeeding lowers the mother's risk of breast cancer, rheumatoid arthritis, osteoporosis, postpartum depression, and uterine and ovarian cancer. In many women if keeps your period for returning for months or even years. It can help you loose weight after giving birth. Nursing uses an extra 500 calories a day! The AAP recommends breastfeeding for at least the first year. UNICEF and the World Heath Organization recommend breastfeeding for a minimum of 2 years and however longer after that as mutually desired.

I honestly can't think of any cons. My daughter is 13-months-old and we are still happily nursing. Check out THIS page for some info on preparing to breastfeed. Definitely do some reading on the subject. The early days of breastfeeding aren't always easy, but it's worth it in the long run. I highly recommend attending a local La Leche League meeting. I started going to meetings while I was pregnant which was very helpful...and totally free! Of course if you have any questions please feel free to ask. biggrin

I'm so ******** frustrated.
GAH!

I'm sick of people that complain about their parents grounding them for drinking or having an unsupervised party or being plain stupid.
I have been essentially grounded my entire life.
I have to do all of the house work, including Kitchen, Bathrooms, Laundry, livingroom, sweep, dust, mop, my bedroom, and even my mother's bedroom.
I am in charge of the grocery list, and if I miss one thing, I'm yelled at.
I dont have a father because he wants nothing to do with me and gave me away so he could have the opportunity to hunt.
And people wonder why and criticize me for hating hunting.
********.

I'm just getting so frustrated. My mother just went to bed and told me if the kitchen wasn't cleaned by tomorrow (my birthday), I would be spending the day cleaning and doing MORE housework, and being grounded for the rest of the weeked.

The ********?

@Pink:: It went well. I haven't had an exam yet.
I had two BH at the office... One in the waiting room, and another RIGHT when my doctor asked me if I've had any pain. lol
Apparently I have a kidney infection. (Remember my mentioning of the orange/red tinted urine?)
I didn't know it was possible to have an infection without pain.
Oh, and LMFAO @ Spider. That is so cute, and so funny. xD

Just out of curiosity, how many people in this thread have husbands/boyfriends/fience's that have or are in the army?
