Welcome to Gaia! ::

here's my recommendation! my favorite jrock band is LUNA SEA - but i've never heard a jrock album which comes close to comparing with the one i'm about to recommend.

Artist Name: hide (pronounced hee-day, for those who don't know)

Genre: technically Jrock, but more like whatever he feels like doing at the moment

Album: PSYENCE

Released: 1996

Description: i've heard albums with little musical attention span, that jump from genre to genre. i've also heard very tight, cohesive albums. rarely do the two overlap better than on this disc. you'll hear everything from glam to industrial, from jazz to trance, from punk rock to 60's spy movie soundtracks on this one, even combined in the same song. it's quite heavy at times, quite melodic at times, and always *fun*. i've been listening to japanese music for 10 years, and i've never heard anything that tops this album, musically...it's the kind of album you can listen to over and over and hear new things in it every time. his other albums are good, but i give PSYENCE my highest possible recommendation...listen to this and you can't help but miss the late, great, one of a kind, space monkey punk from japan - hide.

Recommended songs:
honestly, that'd be like picking a favorite child. just listen to the whole thing, trust me on this one.
thanks to this thread, i'm downloading J rock like crazy. xd
I don't know if this was posted already...

1. Artist/Group Name: DBSG (Dong Bang Shin Gi), TVfXQ (Tong Vfang Xien Qi), THSK (To Ho Shin Ki) - They have multiple names for Korea, Japan and China.

2. Type of music/Genre: K-pop? Or just pop in general since they can sing in Japanese, Korean, English (their English kinda sucks x[ wink and Chinese (Mandarin). They are classified as an acapella group and have sung numerous songs in acapella.

3. Summary of the band: The members of the band include the lead vocals, Kim Junsu, and Kim JaeJoong. The high vocal is Shim Changmin, bass is Jung Yunho and middle (I don't know the term for this) Park Yoochun.

Their stage names include:

Junsu as Xiah - take away the A in Asia, and you get Sia, or Xiah. He took this name because he hopes to become known throughout Asia (or something like that).

JaeJoong as YoungWoongJaeJoong or Hero - He chose the name YoungWoong because it is Korean for Hero and he wants to be a Hero? I am not very clear on that.

Changmin as Choikang Changmin or Max - There isn't a reason why he chose the name Choikang or Max =

Yoochun as MickyYoochun - Yoohun lived in the States for a while and was scouted in Virginia, so he wanted to keep his English name.

Yunho as UknowYunho - If you say Yunho really quick, it will sound like Uknow.

4. Recommended songs:

Miduhyo (Trust Me/I Believe) - This song truly displays TVfXQ at their best. Their amazing vocals shine greatly in this song and even though this song is pretty old, it's quite a classic. Click to download song (There is also a Mandarin version of this song)

Rising Sun - A mixture of some classical, rap, rock and pop, this song is pretty amazing. At first, one may not like it as much, but as time goes by, the song may become your favorite. Click to download song (There is also a Mandarin version of this song)
Band: PopStore
Genre: Korean Punk
Songs-
-Rain...
-Different
Ah! On your list you need to put B'z. ^^

1. Artist/Group Name: B'z
2. Type of music/Genre: A little rock and pop I guess would be the genre.
3. Summary of the band: Many members but the two they always show are Tak Matsumoto the guitarist and Koshi Inaba, the vocalist.
4. Recommended songs:

- Negai: A wonderful piece and my personal favourite. It has a neat jazzy part in the beginning and flows into rock real nicely. The energy of the song also gets you pumped for more. ^^

- Samayoeru Aoi Dangan: A very fast, quick song that has me bopping my head. Probably a good introductory song for those who hadn't listened to B'z before. It's rock but has some pop flare.

- Ultra Soul: My first B'z song that I ever heard, it's still another great one. It's very pop-like and extremely happy. The only problem I have with it is the long ending (?) that I had on my download.

- Bad Communication: Eheh...I love the guitar work in this song. Anyway, I found this to be a great rock song that they had released and is a lively, energetic thing. I dance to this when I think no one's looking. >.>
1. Artist/Group Name : Leo Ku
2. Type of music/Genre: I'm not sure... Canto-pop is the fartherst I can go
3. Summary of the band: He's an artist..
4. Recommended songs: there are a few osngs..well I'll start with
勁歌金曲..it's a mix of many many idfferent "love" songs it was only about 3 minutes long until he changed it in august at his birthdya/concert and made it 10 minutes long by adding stuff...

it's catergorizes in a few catergories..including somehting like love admittance, two peopel's love chat, farewell(break-up) and stuff liek that..and it's just part of past hit songs that were love-ish

there are songs form like whne i was 3 to one of miram yeung's songs in 2005!
Awesome. Quruli was put up right when this thread was started. Well, since it has been awhile i guess it would be fine if i shared me opinion no?

Quruli

Band name: Kent
Origins: Sweden

Over the past few years Kent alone has probably increased youth's use of anti-depressants. One of Sweden's biggest exports. They have a few albums in english, but nothing beats the swedish songs.

Band name: Bob Hund
Origins: Sweden

Dubbed Sweden's best live band, and it's true. Most of their album recordings are recorded from live concerts.

Band name: Thåström
Origins: Sweden

One of my favorite artists.

There are other great artists other than those from Japan you know. wink

I've heard of Hide. My favorite band was accused of copying Hide on our own message boards. So I only really heard a little bit.
1. Artist/Group Name: 175R
2. Type of music/Genre: ska/punk
3. Summary of the band: great songs, top-notch guitar skills, cool vocal, & Shogo is just too hot 4laugh
4. Recommended songs: Sakura, sora ni utaeba. Both are among the best of their songs ^^
1. Artist/Group Name Messer Für Frau Müller [Russia]

2. Type of music/Genre Actually not that easy to explain. I've seen "lounge", I've seen "electronic rock", but neither does justice to the music. Perhaps the summary will give you a better idea?

3. Summary of the band:

"It's kind of reminiscent of making a salad."
...according to a French ringtone(?) site. I couldn't agree more. Sorry I'm gonna have to quote again, but I hope this gives you the right idea.

"The music of zany Russian samplesmiths Oleg Kostrow and Oleg Gitarkin is magical and multidimensional. Messer Fur Frau Muller and Messer Chups projects combine beats, film samples, found sounds, scratchy historical recordings, loungey or cartoon sounds from the 50's, guitar, and whatever the hell else there is around.

Beautifully extending the entire history of Russian absurdism, irony, and anecdotal humor, Kostrow and Gitarkin expresse in electronic sampled music the legend started by those such as Sergej Kuryokhin and mid-80's early Russian avant-jazz post-modernists."

4. Recommended songs: I think "Karate Feelings" serves as a nice introduction to their style. Beyond that, anything works.

At the moment I've got a couple of their songs up on my radio.blog - http://www.melonchannel.com/tiger/radio.blog/ - for anyone interested.

For something hopefully permanent, here you can find a decent description and 30 second samples of every song from "Triangle, Dot & Devil": http://www.aerocccp.com/site/messer.html

[Now, I just realised that's their US label site (?), but since there's mention of L'arc~en~Ciel and Peelander-Z on the previous page, and moreover, numerous threads for bands with US releases... I'm gonna go ahead and post.]
1. Name: Asian Kung-Fu generation
2. Type of music/Genre: Light Pop-rock... hm... japanese... they do the open for FMA...for anyone who likes soundtracks.
3. Summary of the band: I really don't know =/
4. Recommended songs: Rewrite. It's really good, light, fun!
