Welcome to Gaia! ::

1. So Nyuh Shi Dae (SNSD - translates to Girls Generation)

2. They mostly sing pop and dance. It goes from cutesy pop, like Kissing you or Fun (Sweet talking baby), to songs that are more badass or sexy, like Run Devil Run or Chocolate Love. They also sing ballad songs, such as Dear Mom, Complete and more.

3. The group consists of 9 members, each with their own individual talents.
Taeyeon - Leader, main vocalist (best voice IMO as well)
Jessica - Main vocalist ( Really pretty voice with a good vibrato)
Sunny - Lead vocalist (She's a good singer as well - a nice strong voice)
Tiffany - Lead vocalist and also the english speaker (Her voice has a lower and strong pitch)
Hyoyeon 0 Supporting vocalist and main dancer (Voice isn't as strong, but dance moves are fierce, she's known for her poping and locking)
Yuri - Supporting vocalist and 2nd main dancer (Voice isn't that bad, but her dancing is also really good. She's known for her sexy and seductive dancing)
Sooyoung - Supporting Vocalist and Lead dancer (Again, not bad voice but her dancing is really nice. Also, she's got the body of a model even though she eats her heart out everyday o.o wink
Yoona (My favorite) - She's "SNSD's face", which basically means that she's always in the middle, or at least close to the middle when they do photoshoots and stuff. Also a supporting vocalist and lead dancer. (Again, I love her dancing cx)
Seohyun - The maknae.youngest of the group. She's the lead vocalist but also is a good dancer, so she has both singing and dancing as her talents.

4. Recommended songs: For cutesy/happy/refreshing songs : Kissing you, Baby Baby, Cooky (The song was for a commercial), Echo, Etude, Fun (sweet talking baby), HaHaHa (Also commercial song), Merry-Go-Round, Oh!, Ooh La La, Seoul (ft. Super Junior), Girls Generation, Way to Go!, Into the New World, Honey, Beginning

For more of a mature and/or sexy song: Chocolate Love, Run Devil Run, Gee (Also a little cute as well), Caribbean Bay (ft. 2pm), Tell me your wish (Genie), Show Show Show.

Anddd for slow/ballad songs: Complete, Dear Mom, Tears, Tinkerbell.

This was pretty long... o.o
My favorite song so far?
Girls Generation, Echo, Complete, Run Devil Run, Genie and of course, Gee. (;
1. Artist/Group Name:
Orange Range

2. Type of music/Genre:
Alternative rock/pop/rap

3. Summary of the band:
Members:
Yamato Ganeko - high vocals
Hiroki Hokama - mid-range vocals
Ryo Miyamori - low vocals
Naoto Hiroyama - guitar
Yoh Miyamori - bass

Influenced by music all over the world, Orange Range (Japanese) combines many different genres in their albums and even in individual songs. Despite the genre description above they also have many other kinds of songs, e.g. electronic and ballads, and the song recommendations below don't really cover all the different kinds of songs they make, they're just something to give you some kind of idea about the band.

4. Recommended songs:
Miracle - Happy, very energetic pop with bits of rap here and there
Great Escape - A rock song with rap bits and lots of attitude!
Sayonara - Calm, thankful and happy pop/ballad.
Dance2 (feat. Soy Sauce) - Like the name tells, a dance song (with some rap here and there, again). The lyrics sound funny.
Fire Bun (feat. God Making) - Unlike the other OR songs, this is almost completely hip hop. Sounds a bit like western radio rap.
Zung Zung Funky Music - The name tells a lot about the song. A funky rap/rock song with a lot of the attitude mentioned before.

Λucifer is a really awesome band!
My favourite song of theirs is Love Melody. It's sweet and peaceful, though Λucifer is a Rock band.
I don't know how useful it will really be to post in a relatively underused thread asking about Italian music when most of you seem to be discussing Japanese music, but as I just get bin'd trying to do anything else, I'll just ask you here:

Italian language music, preferably metal, but anything of quality will do. If you suggest a band that is mostly preformed in English, please let me know which songs in particular are written in Italian. Thank you in advance for anything you suggest.

On a search through Last.fm, I've found Alessandro Miani. One of the tags on his page brought me to this page, which might help you. I don't know a lot of music from countries outside of Japan and Germany, so I hope the link helps.

I honestly don't know if anyone knows who she is, or even made a thread for her.
Which makes me very sad. sad

1. Artist : (Chinese Name) Zhang LiYin / (Korean Name) Jang Ri In

2. Type of music/Genre: KPOP, CPOP, R&B

3. Summary of the band: From the same entertainment company as TVXQ, Super Junior, BoA, the TRAX, SHINee, & SNSD [ SM ENTERTAINMENT].
She was once considered the Chinese BoA, as she came from China at the age of 13 and trained for 2 years, before debuting in 2006 with the song "TIMELESS" featuring Xiah Junsu from TVXQ.
Liyin is the first chinese solo artist in SM.

{More Info on her, please refer to the information on Profile}

4. Recommended songs: "Timeless" featuring TVXQ/DBSK Xiah Junsu ; "Y(Why)"; "Rainy Days, Sunny Days : Moving On"; "Wrongly Given Love" featuring Kim Jonghyun (SHINee) -- Most of her recent songs are from her 1st Chinese Album, since she only has a singles in Korea; Her Timeless Single is the only single Liyin has so far. Most of her songs are just wonderful, and it makes me sad that she's not that well known.

Monkey Majik

When Pritchard and Ivany quit the band, Maynard decided to invite his younger brother to join the band. He has high respects for Godiego, the band whose song "Monkey Magic" became the inspiration for the band's name, and even goes so far as to refer to them as "gods". Other Japanese musicians which he mentions in high regard include UA, Oda Kazumaza, and Spitz. Maynard's solo project blanc., which started as far back as 2003, has gained recognition across Asia. blanc.'s collaborations with freeTEMPO and other Japanese underground artists have given him particular recognition in Korea and China. His father is also a professional musician who has played with Paul Anka.

Blaise continued the band with Maynard in 2001 where they released their first EP Tired. In 2007 he began his own label, daydream PRODUCTIONS,and started his official blog. On March 3, 2008 he launched his solo project "The Alphabet Project" where every song released hit Number 1 on the Syncl Download chart. Singing in English, Japanese, and French, "The Alphabet Project" has built a reputation across Canada, the U.S., Europe, and Asia. Blaise will be releasing his first full album "Painting Music" sometime this fall, and is currently working on a film, which he will be directing.
* tax tax (Takuya Kikuchi, 菊池拓哉) (born August 31, 1975 from Sendai, Miyagi, Japan): drums. tax partakes in the majority of songwriting. He had worked as a dental technician for five years, after which he switched to becoming a salaryman. He was introduced to Maynard and Blaise through a friend. Before becoming Monkey Majik's full-time drummer his drumming experience only consisted of two years spent drumming during junior high school.
* d**k (born March 10, 1978 from Sapporo, Hokkaidō, Japan): bass. Has previously been part of a funk soul band called Soul Addiction under the name Hideki d**k Mori. Also was a member of a jazz band called Private Kitchen. Joined the band to switch in with Urushizaka with the release of the band's second indie album "eastview".

Tl;dr --& This group of musical artists is very fresh, with two Canadian brothers and two Japanese musicians who play music in English and Japanese. The brothers, Maynard Plant and Blaise Plant, are both vocalists and play the guitar. Tax tax plays the drums and d**k plays the bass.

Recommended Songs:

Seriously, I never get tired listening to any of their songs, but here are some of them

Fly - a very happy and lively song. This gets me in a good mood all the time.
Aishiteru - Japanese for "I love you," this song is great for setting the mood. You won't even need to be in love to enjoy this song biggrin
Change - a collaboration with the Yoshida Brothers, it starts out slowly, then gradually gets more upbeat
Tada, Arigato - although less energetic, this one can still get you in a good mood smile
Looking to try music of the Swedish, Russian, German and French variety. I have and love a few token novelty songs of each language, but not much. Help me expand my collection?

When it comes to English music, I like artists like 3 doors down, Rihanna, Within Temptation, Breaking Benjamin and Three Days grace, if that's any jumping point

Wondering if it was possible to make a smtown thread.
It does contain groups that already have their own official threads but since it's something that contains many groups instead of just one, it might be okay.

Wanted to make one to see who's going to the smtown concerts, mainly the Los Angeles one this September 4th. And then able to talk about it afterwards. ^_^
Not sure if anyone listens to celtic rock but...

1. Band Name: Enter the Haggis
2. Genre: Celtic Rock
3. General Info: From Toronto, Canada.
Members are: Trevor Lewington – vocals, guitar
Brian Buchanan – vocals, fiddle, keyboards, guitar
Craig Downie – bagpipes, harmonica, whistle, vocals
Mark Abraham – bass, vocals
James Campbell – drums
here's a site if you want to learn more: Enter the Haggis
4. I recommend One Last Drink as a start, followed by Twirling Towards Freedom for a true taste of their style. I can't really compare them to any other Celtic Rock band, which is why I consider them so great. It's also great to see Craig perform in his kilt.

If you know of any other good little known Celtic Rock bands, I'd love to hear about them.
