At first, I thought it would be neat because hey...vampires are cool (or were until the annoying fan-girls ruined it). Believe it or not, I have read the books and to be frank, her characters were two-dimensional, the fourth book is resolved rather anti-climatically (despite the intense build up), Jacob's character did complete 180's which really irritated me to no end, and the whole thing is basically a teenage girl's fantasy/wet dream since Edward is "perfect".

In essence, Twilight -could- have been awesome, if everything was more realistic and didn't bounce between drama and impossible romance like an indecisive yo-yo.

Does anyone agree with me on this? if so, then share your opinion.

*NOTE - If you enjoyed the series, feel free to disagree with me, but do not get all into the defensive over it. Also, I know that there were threads about this topic done before, but people are constantly making hundreds of threads over one specific topic over and over again. One more is not going to matter. So do not go giving me links to an existing one.*

I agree with you. It read like a badly written fanfic, and it could have been much better. I don't really understand how it became so popluar. Everybody I know loves it.

yeah youre kinda right about that fanfic idea too... it really could be one. i hate bella. lol

I read the books and I liked them.
I watched the movie, and it was utter crap.

I loved the books, until the ******** fan-girls ruined it. Now I'm anti Twilight. becuase people started obsessing. I don't follow trends, nor do i like like what EVERYONE else likes. I avoid being similiar. and Twilight jsut got too famous. So i stopped even talking about it.

It's really pointless to hate something just because it's fanbase has grown. Eventually, it happens to most everything. It just makes you look silly trying to be individual by hating things that are popular. Thanks to people like you it is now popular to hate popular things.

It's one thing to hate fangirls for being complete idiots over the latest trend, it's another to hate the trend because of the fans. There are plenty of reasons not to like Twilight other than it's popularity.

I liked Twilight before everyone was like EDWARD OMG! Now it sort of reminds me of the Jonas Brothers? And it makes me feel a little icky. And if she hadn't written book four like she had I might still be a fan. Unfortunately Edward was weak the entire book, Bella was even more uncharacteristic than usual, and the ending was THE WORST. Like it was Glitter/Mariah Carey bad. crying

lol yeah i feel that. i didnt even finish the last book because it was so awful. i couldnt beleive that she turned into a vampire. it was annoying as hell. and made no sense. her relationship with her family was way too close, and she leaves them to be with this angel on earth dude. weird.. yeah and these girls with edward..the actor isnt even that great looking first of all HES HAIRY. and the book character was a lot better, but still he was too much "oh bella, i dont know if i should love you" and "bella dont be around me coz im going to kill you." just kill her already if you want her so bad.

I agree so much with you. People just love to hate popular things nowadays. They exaggerate every one of its flaws.

Take any book and you can find so many flaws that can be picked apart to the point where even the good books sound bad. I did pick apart Twilight for a while, but there are only so many genuine flaws with it. After 700+ pages in the anti thread, all of it's problems have been adressed.
To me, it's not really the picking it apart, it's the "it sucks because other people like it" You see the same thing with music. It annoys me greatly. Either like it or don't based on what you think of the thing itself. Ignore popular opinion.

You know you wanna.
I get that you hate Twilight. Hell, me and anyone with a speck of common sense agrees with you. But, come on, the series is over. Smeyer won't give up the drama of the Midnight Sun leak by finishing the thing and publishing it, and there isn't much news on the horizon beyond vague hintings that she's even going to write anything else.

There's nothing new to whine about with those books. Us antis are getting repetitive as anything, and, frankly, it's about as annoying as the fans raving over Smeyer and sparkles. Your complaints about the series are nothing new. They've all been addressed over and over on the anti-Twilight thread on this board, and on other sites (i.e. Twilight Sucks, the Anti-Twilight Lexicon, Black Pawn Movement, Dazzle Me This, etc.). Playing it up doesn't really add to the discussion, nor does it help lower the number of threads about Twilight in the Books forum. It's just old. It's dull. It comes off as your inability to move on, rather than your opinion about an honestly terrible series.

Next time, try just posting stuff like this in the main anti-Twilight thread instead of making this new one, alright? Follows forum rules and leaves people less annoyed. It's a win-win. ;]

All of the answers are different because each person has read different vampire books with different mythology. Some vampires just can't have sex period.

My Coco Kitty
I've read pages of the book, cringed until my shoulders collapsed and I have to say that it's mediocre at best. For a book about "vampires" there sure isn't a whole lot about the myth or culture of said night critter. I frankly don't know why in the book, or movie, Edward was so "OMG! I sparkle, I'm an immoral being!" and all that when really he just looks like a kid with pale skin and body glitter obsession. I could understand him being haunted with the idea that he wouldn't be able to have a normal relationship with Bella if he exploded when exposed to light, because then there's some conflict. But a bad case of the sparkles? No, that's just silly.

Also, if you consume blood, you're not a vegetarian, unless lettuce now shoots blood upon being bitten as a defense mechanism.

Unless you are reading Twilight, in which case they ejaculate acid.

Combine this with their method of birthing (chest burster baby), and that is your proof that Twilight is a rip-off of Alien.
