At first, I thought it would be neat because hey...vampires are cool (or were until the annoying fan-girls ruined it). Believe it or not, I have read the books and to be frank, her [Stephanie Meyer] characters were two-dimensional, the fourth book is resolved rather anti-climatically (despite the intense build up), Jacob's character did complete 180's which really irritated me to no end, and the whole thing is basically a teenage girl's fantasy/wet dream since Edward is "perfect".

In essence, Twilight -could- have been awesome, if everything was more realistic and didn't bounce between drama and impossible romance like an indecisive yo-yo.

Does anyone agree with me on this? If so, then feel free to share your opinion.

*UPDATE - If you enjoyed the series, feel free to disagree with me, but do not get all into the defensive over it. If you want to give reasons as to why you disagree, then let them be intelligent ones. Not statements such as "it is the best thing ever made" because that is not an intelligent review or argument. Also, I know that there were threads about this topic done before, but people are constantly making hundreds of threads over one specific topic over and over again everyday. One more thread on this topic is not going to mean the end of the world. So do not go giving me links to an existing one.*

This is what I am talking about in terms of "going on the defensive". Personally, I did not think the movie was not all that great for me. Just like every other movie, they left things out that were supposed to be in there and they add in some stuff that is unnecessary, and of course there is my critique on the book that can relate to the movie. It also seemed to jump around a lot which annoyed me. However, if you disagree with me, then you are free to debate with me on why you like it so much as opposed to just saying "I like it" or "it's the best thing ever". Those are not reasonable cases.

People make a lot of extra threads about specific topics. I do not think one more is going to matter.

I completely agree with you. Stephine Meyer is a fantastic author, and Twilight really didn't do her much justice (I cried reading her other book, The Host). Sure, I read, I liked it, but I didn't love it. There was too much unnessacary drama, in my opinion. Also, the movie killed Twilight in total for me. It was all music and pictures, no plot, or meaning. >_>

One more thing, Edward is too perfect to be straight.

I agree with you. It read like a badly written fanfic, and it could have been much better. I don't really understand how it became so popluar. Everybody I know loves it.

*LOL's at the Edward comment*

I never got to "Host" yet. My girl-friend read it, but I have not gotten to it yet.

I liked Twilight before everyone was like EDWARD OMG! Now it sort of reminds me of the Jonas Brothers? And it makes me feel a little icky. And if she hadn't written book four like she had I might still be a fan. Unfortunately Edward was weak the entire book, Bella was even more uncharacteristic than usual, and the ending was THE WORST. Like it was Glitter/Mariah Carey bad. crying

Yeah, the whole Edward thing was pretty annoying. As a matter of fact from my experience, those who like the book (mainly females) only liked it for Edward or Jacob. That does not make sense to me. They are reading the book and are too busy drooling over the fact that they think it would be cool to "do" a vampire boy. You ask them what the book was about, they would not know how to tell you because they did not pay attention to the story-line. It was always about Edward.

Comment me if you like this. I also have a couple on the bottom of my profile you might enjoy. Comment me if you like those too

Sophomore year I asked a girl what Twilight was about because half the class chose it for independent reading. She told me it was about a school full of vampires.

I hated Twifail and all of its s**t sequels.

I couldn't even READ Breaking Wind.

The "OM NOM NOM UTERUS NOM NOM" bit made me put the book down in sheer disgust. gonk

CLUSTERCUSS

Even though it was totally different from the book, the Fantastic Mr. Fox movie was actually really good gaiz. 83
I read the books and I liked them.
I watched the movie, and it was utter crap.

I loved the books, until the ******** fan-girls ruined it. Now I'm anti Twilight. becuase people started obsessing. I don't follow trends, nor do i like like what EVERYONE else likes. I avoid being similiar. and Twilight jsut got too famous. So i stopped even talking about it.

I actually liked Edward being weak in the fourth book. Gives you a sense of perspective....

Edward is weaker than a girl.

Wimp.

Many demigods think everything they touch turns to gold. Which is ironic because in reality it turns a bright orange color. And it flickers. Sometimes it even glows.
