Dude, nothing beats GWAR, they're the original and still the Best! I mean come on they put on a better show! who doesn't love The Reaganator or Cardinal Syn? GWAR is a classic that no one can beat.

Being that I'm the only one that seems to notice this, but it's quite an unfair comparison. Gwar is metal, yet Lordi is hard rock rather then metal.

To answer this thread anyway, I like Lordi better.

Both bands essentially incomparable considering they have two entirely different types of music. But I like Lordi better.

I find Gwar just irritating. Plus like 15 years ago I got all my earrings ripped out at a Gwar show so I'm bitter. Lordi, however is hilarious and awesome.
1. Evil Dead complex = Awesome.
2. Chainsaw Buffet. Come on people! The secret ingredient is screams ftlog!
3. They speak of themselves in the first person and as if they are actually monsters.
4. Blood Red Sandman. EVERYONE SING ALONG!

I'm pissed I didn't get to see them at Ozzfest last summer....

GWAR's music is immature and reminds me of drunken frat boys doing karaoke.
It's noise and garbage.
I have not as yet met a GWAR fan that I liked, especially since many of them seem to like Insane Clown Posse as well.

Lordi has better lyrics, better music, and better costumes.
Lordi is a professional international multi-million dollar entity for a reason.
As an added bonus, Lordi is also from Finland, and as we all know, anything from Finland is superior.

ok, now that i've got that outta my system, let me just say that both bands have their goods and their bads. and Gwar is really funny and sometimes a little disturbing (which i love immensely) however, i believe Lordi to be the better band, simply because i like their style of mixing a bit of the old rock with the new. and their energy is felt in every song. haven't found a bad Lordi song yet. not to mention the monster theme. love the monster bands.

that being said, why are we bashing each other here? the "monster theme" is a rock genre unto itself, nobody's technically ripping off the styles of Kiss, Alice Cooper, etc. who cares about who got booed off stage or who's costumes may or not look crappier/better than the others? bands get booed off stage at least once in their careers, it's a fact of that lifestyle. no need to tear each other's heads off for liking one band slightly better than another.

i agree, if you're going to compare bands, or anything else for that matter, make sure they're the same type of thing so the playing field is more level.
